Job description

Job Summary/Overview: The purpose of a Delivery Driver is to operate our trucks locally in a safe and efficient manner in order to deliver/transport products to our customers. A Driver may also return freight picked up from various vendors to Golden Organics/Loco foods facility (back haul).

Essential duties/responsibilities:

  1. Load and unload trucks
  2. Collect money from customers and ensure they signed off after receipt of delivery
  3. Provide quality customer service through positive and professional interaction
  4. Perform pre-and post-trip inspection on the truck and trailer for safe operation of vehicle
  5. Communicate with supervisor to receive work orders and products, maintain delivery schedule, verify loads, report delivery issues, and check-in during travel stops
  6. Interact and communicate with customers and vendors to verify delivery loads, place or position products, receive backhauls, and complete transaction documentation
  7. Unload products from trailer and deliver to customer’s storage facility using manual and powered pallet jacks
  8. Use document proof of delivery and facilitate invoicing
  9. Read and interpret work orders, safety instructions, and manuals
  10. Strictly adhere to product and temperature sensitive protocols when transporting, re-loading, and securing product for transport
  11. Comply with all requirements of the food safety and quality management system. Report any food safety or quality issues to a Food Safety/SQF team member at the time the issue occurs.
  12. Maintain manual or electronic log books
  13. Safely secure vehicle during each customer stop
  14. Strictly adhere to driving regulations and apply skills when maneuvering vehicle in all situations.
  15. Follow proper stacking and storing of products and goods; secure loads in between deliveries using load bars and straps; utilize product and storage shape and sizing for optimization of load
  16. Must meet established on-time delivery deadlines and have the ability to work under minimal supervision
  17. Must maintain cleanliness of vehicle each day and before checking in with dispatch at the end of your shift
  18. Report to warehouse after delivery route for additional warehouse duties that may need to be completed

Other duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Operate vehicle in a variety of traffic and weather conditions
  2. Meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the Company
  3. Meet or exceed established cases per error goals
  4. Demonstrate strong customer relations and problem resolution skills
  5. Effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision
  6. Develop a good working knowledge of product and inventory control techniques and procedures
  7. Maintain ongoing inter-department communications related to routing, safety, and customers

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma/GED preferred

Experience:

  1. Commercial driving experience or three months foodservice or food and beverage delivery experience preferred.
  2. Experience delivering food products preferred.
  3. Good driving record (MVR required).

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 75 pounds of material on consistent basis, repetitive motions.
  2. Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations.
  3. Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and ability to work with money collected from customers to ensure the amount collected matches the invoiced amount.

Work Environment/Other information (travel required, physical requirements, on-call schedules, etc.):

  1. Overtime hours, working occasional weekends and holidays, and starting at various early morning start times are required
  2. Frequently reach up to 72 inches to stack and unstack pallets and use hand carts and pallet jacks
  3. At times, transport product down ramps, stairs, or docks, in all weather conditions
  4. Required to wear steel toed or composite toed shoes
  5. The work is performed primarily outdoors, but other duties are performed in the warehouse
