The Supply Chain Assistant Intern will support our supply chain team in the procurement, planning, and logistics activities required to deliver next generation clean energy hardware products. This is a hands-on opportunity for a student to gain real-world experience in supply chain operations within a fast-paced clean energy environment.

Job Description

Generac is hiring a Supply Chain Assistant Intern to join our supply chain team in Santa Monica, CA. In this role, you will support day-to-day procurement, planning, and supplier communication activities for our clean energy product line. You will work directly with experienced supply chain professionals and contribute to the operational work that brings clean energy products from suppliers to production. This internship is 5 days a week on-site in Santa Monica, CA.

What You Will Do

  • Support purchase order creation, tracking, and follow-up with suppliers.
  • Help maintain accurate inventory data and item records in ERP systems.
  • Assist with material expediting and supplier communication.
  • Track on-time delivery, supplier performance, and outstanding orders.
  • Support procurement and planning teams with data analysis and reporting.
  • Help prepare dashboards and reports on inventory, lead times, and supplier metrics.
  • Document supply chain processes and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Take ownership of a defined project that delivers tangible value to the team by the end of the internship.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Ability to follow processes consistently and learn new systems quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework in supply chain, procurement, logistics, or operations.
  • Exposure to ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar) through coursework or prior internship.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools beyond Excel (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
  • Interest in clean energy technology or hardware manufacturing.
  • Prior internship, co-op, or project experience in a business or operations environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a curious mindset.

Office Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
