What to Expect in LEAD (Leadership, Expertise & Accelerated Development):
The LEAD Operations EHS Program is a 2-year rotational program that allows you choose areas of interest and develop your skill sets.
LEAD consists of four, 6-month rotations that are intended to provide a broad exposure to the EHS functions in different manufacturing environments leading to successful off program placement in a role that will launch your Wabtec career.
This position will be visible and interacting with all employees concerning health and safety, assessing hazard conditions, and implementing practices to reduce those hazards. The EHS Program develops and maintains a proactive and collaborative approach at the site to create a healthy and safe working environment while building your skills in lean, 5s, continuous improvement technologies, developing knowledge in US regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA & State requirements), audit, incident investigations, training, data management, coaching & team building, leadership/supervision and more.
But that's not all! In additional to your rotational roles, your program experience will include leadership and technical training, contributions to program operations, exposure to senior leadership, social & volunteer activities and development of a lifelong network of professionals and friends.
Locations:
Individuals joining the program in the US must be willing and available to accept rotations in any of our locations based on business needs. Examples of those locations include but are not limited to Boston, MA, Erie, Grove City & Pittsburgh, PA, Greenville, Duncan & Columbia SC, Kansas City, MO, Fort Worth, TX, Germantown, MD, Las Vegas, NV and Salem, VA.

Requirements - We are looking for:
  • Four-year degree in: Safety Management, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Systems Engineering & other related technical degrees.
  • Graduating by May/June 2026
  • Willingness and ability travel and/or relocate with the United States
  • Open to applicants legally authorized to work in the U.S., without the need for current or future work status authorization or visa sponsorship for employment

Desired:
  • Overall GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 (based upon 4.0 scale)
  • Prior work or internship experience in EHS related role

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • A strong commitment to a career in EHS
  • General understanding of safety in a manufacturing environment with desire to continue learning
  • Prior intern, co-op, or research experience in engineering, EHS, safety, industrial hygiene, manufacturing or relevant areas
  • Ability to learn new skills sets quickly to be able to make an impact in new roles, situations
  • Demonstrated program / project management skills working on and leading teams
  • Leadership experience inside and/or outside the classroom; ability to communicate & tailor messages up and down the leadership chain
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate problems in clear and simple terms; strong analytical skills
  • Ability to solve problems, contribute to creative solutions and challenge the status quo
  • Resilience & ability to pivot with changing directives and metrics
  • Proactively learns new tools and identifies opportunities for improvement and promotes their adoption
  • Desire to lead people and processes as a front line supervisor

The salary rate for this role is currently $72000-72000 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com.
