Avelo's Cloud Engineering team supports and maintains the core information systems across the Azure ecosystem. The Azure Cloud Engineer will maintain and support the integrity of the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, perform systems maintenance tasks, such as system back-up, recovery, and file maintenance. The team designs, schedules, installs, and tests system software upgrades. Build simplicity, "one-crew" seamless teamwork, and "always getting better" into the implementation and use of the software and computer systems, to help our crewmembers save our customers time and money.


Responsibilities:

  1. Manage scalable, secure, and resilient Azure cloud environments across multiple regions. 
  2. Work alongside team of cloud engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Security, Networking, Data, Development and Program Management. 
  3. Implement and maintain Azure services including: 
  • Compute: VMs, Azure Functions, App Services 
  • Containers: AKS, Container Instances 
  • Databases: Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL 
  • Monitor: Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Defender for Cloud 
  • Networking: VNets, NSGs, ExpressRoute, DNS, FrontDoor, Fastly 
  • Security: RBAC, Conditional Access, Encryption 
  • Storage: Blob, File, Disk, Archive 
  • Web & Mobility: App Services and API Management 

4.   Integrate and manage third-party tools: 

  • Fastly for edge delivery and CDN 
  • Grafana for custom dashboards and visualization 
  • Prometheus for metrics collection and alerting 

5.   Drive automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform templates. 


Requirements

  •  3 to 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure or cloud engineering 
  • Proven expertise in Microsoft Azure services and ecosystem. 
  • Hands-on experience with IaC, CI/CD, and cloud-native security. 
  • Familiarity with observability platforms and performance monitoring tools. 
  • Strong communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. 
  • Must be willing and able to work onsite at Avelo's Support Center in Houston from Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm CST.


May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate. (e.g., emergencies, changes in workload, rush initiatives or technical developments).
