Job Description:

  • Job Title: Senior Accountant
  • Salary: $80-100,000 - pay to be based on years of experience

  • Reports to: Controller, CFO

Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant is under the direct supervision of the Controller, and performs all tasks related to financial accounting systems, reports and processes for corporate operations, contracts and projects. As Senior Financial Accountant, this position will be a key member of our Finance team and will be responsible for the daily accounting operations in a multi-entity environment, prepare financial reports, month-end close processes, reconcile accounts, ensure GAAP/policy compliance, and assist with audits.

Essential Job Functions:

Planning, development, and implementation of effective Finance strategies, policies, and procedures.

  • Demonstrates the IP Mission, Vision and Care Commitments in behaviors, practice, and decisions.
  • Participate in annual budget process and long-term business planning.

Establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with personnel, departments and management.

  • Supports a culture that fosters teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration throughout the organization.
  • Support the financial department in developing short- and long-term financial goals and forecasts.

Key Finance Responsibilities oversight of the financial accounting system to include journal entries, bank reconciliations, budget analysis, internal controls, and financial statement preparation, requiring strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.โ€ฏโ€ฏ

  • Financial Reporting:โ€ฏ Prepare and review accurate financial statements, journal entries, and complex account reconciliations (bank, fixed assets, revenue).โ€ฏDevelopment of Excel-based workbooks, worksheets, models, or other tools requested for the company related to projects, planning, or internal operations.
  • Month End Close: Assists with the timely completion of month, quarter, and year-end close processes.โ€ฏMaintain job costs reports for staff time and project intercompany charges. Perform monthly bank reconciliations. Maintain the company's financial records and produce requested financial reports.
  • Analysis & Budgeting:โ€ฏ Analyze financial data, trends, variances, and assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial projections.โ€ฏEnter budget and budget adjustments and prepare financial budget according to schedule. Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
  • Audits & Compliance:โ€ฏ Work with external auditors, provide documentation, and ensure adherence to GAAP and internal controls.โ€ฏ
  • Process Improvement:โ€ฏ Recommend and implement improvements to accounting systems and processes for efficiency.โ€ฏDevelop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and generally accepted accounting procedures.
  • Operations Management:โ€ฏ Post daily transactions, including accounts payable, receivable, and payroll processing. Record daily financial transactions and prepare journal entries.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive increase in responsibility in processing of financial accounting data as well as performing analysis and journal entries into the General Ledger.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting principles, and financial reporting.
  • A strong record as an effective, team-oriented employee.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to interact with all levels of staff and to explain payroll processes to employees, experience in effectively communicating key data.
  • Outstanding analytic, organization and problem-solving skills for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply innovative and resourceful solutions to solve complex challenges.
  • Embrace diverse and inclusive perspectives across the organization, elevate voices not always heard in analysis and strategy.
