Job description

Senior Manager - Advisory & Tax Services
Location: Hamilton, OH
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $140,000 - $180,000
Vendor fee-$2800
Position Overview
This is not a traditional Senior Manager role. The position is designed for a CPA who wants to lead, advise, and consult directly with clients, rather than focus on internal management, administrative tasks, or compliance-only work. The role gives clear authority over client relationships, allowing the professional to deliver real-time advisory impact and exercise professional judgment independently.
Senior Managers in this role serve as the primary advisor for a portfolio of business clients, leading conversations, identifying opportunities, and ensuring that tax, compliance, and advisory needs are fully addressed. The position offers autonomy, leadership, and the ability to influence client outcomes at a level many firms reserve for partners.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead recurring and strategic client meetings, including monthly financial reviews and business planning discussions
  • Serve as the primary advisor, answering tax and accounting questions as they arise
  • Connect tax implications to real business decisions, not as an afterthought
  • Identify risks, issues, and opportunities across tax, compliance, and advisory services
  • Coordinate with internal delivery teams to ensure execution and follow-through
  • Know when to involve specialists-without defaulting to deferral
Who Thrives in This Role
  • CPA with a strong tax and accounting foundation
  • Comfortable being the face of the firm in client conversations
  • Confident in real-time decision-making and professional judgment
  • Genuinely enjoys client interaction and relationship-building
  • Able to balance depth of technical analysis with actionable recommendations
What This Role Is Not
  • A compliance-only reviewer
  • A pure strategist without technical depth
  • A meeting facilitator who defers core technical questions

Why This Role Is Compelling:
This position offers partner-level autonomy and client authority, without requiring years to reach formal partnership. It is ideal for CPAs who want to focus on advisory impact, strategic client guidance, and professional growth, rather than internal politics or administrative overhead.
