Job description

We're looking for an HR Business Partner (HRBP) to support both our Chubbies retail stores and Fulfilled by Solo Brands (FBS) operations. This role will serve as a key partner to field and operations leadership, supporting a large non-exempt employee population across multiple locations.
This is a highly hands-on, people-first role that blends employee relations, compliance, and operational execution. The ideal candidate is experienced in fast-paced environments (retail, fulfillment, or warehouse), is confident navigating complex employee situations, and brings strong working knowledge of UKG and workers' compensation processes.
Duties and responsibilities
Field Partnership & Employee Relations
  • Serve as the primary HR partner to Retail (10 stores) and FBS leadership teams
  • Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, investigations, and terminations
  • Coach leaders on managing non-exempt populations, ensuring consistent and compliant practices
  • Support talent planning, engagement, and development across field teams

Employee Lifecycle & HR Operations
  • Own end-to-end onboarding and offboarding processes across retail and FBS
  • Ensure accurate execution of: Offer management, onboarding workflows, and system setup (UKG) and I-9 verification, background checks, and employee documentation
  • Manage employee data updates and maintain accurate HR records and files
  • Partner cross-functionally (IT, Payroll, Benefits) to ensure a seamless employee experience

Payroll, Compliance & Workforce Management
  • Partner with HR Operations to review and audit bi-weekly payroll, including timecards and status changes
  • Ensure compliance with wage & hour laws, ACA requirements, and labor regulations
  • Guide leaders on scheduling, overtime, and timekeeping practices
  • Support audits and reporting to ensure compliance across retail and FBS populations

Workers' Compensation & Leave Management
  • Manage and support workers' compensation cases end-to-end, including claim coordination and employee support
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and compliant case management
  • Support leave of absence processes and ensure proper documentation and communication

HR Programs & Process Improvement
  • Support rollout of HR initiatives and programs across retail and FBS
  • Build and refine HR playbooks and standardized processes (onboarding, offboarding, ER, etc.)
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and employee experience

Qualifications
  • 4-7+ years of HR experience, preferably in retail, warehouse, or fulfillment environments
  • Strong experience supporting non-exempt employee populations at scale
  • Proven experience in employee relations, investigations, and performance management
  • Hands-on experience with workers' compensation and leave management
  • Experience with UKG (or similar HRIS) strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of wage & hour laws and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • People-first mindset with strong problem-solving skills
