Job description

Job Title: Adjunct Teaching - School of Family Life - SFL 306: Pediatric Bereavement, Death and Dying

Posting Close Date:June 6, 2026

Position Start Date: August 1, 2026

Required Degree:

A Masters or PhD in Human Development, Family Studies, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field is required.

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience:

Teaching experience at the university level in Human Development, Family Studies, or Marriage and Family Therapy is preferred.

Duties/Expectations:

Successful applicants will teach a 3-credit, semester class on Wednesdays 2:00-4:50 pm to about 40 undergraduate students in the School of Family Life. By the end of the semester students in this class should be able to:

  • Articulate their personal views and attitudes toward death and dying
  • Identify societal and cultural attitudes toward death
  • Describe guiding principles of end-of-life care
  • Distinguish between the medical model & patient-centered approach to dying
  • Describe and evaluate factors that influence patient preferences in end-of-life care
