GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Utilize CAM software to create NC programs for 2D prismatic parts, 4 axis, complex 3D surfacing, 3+2 positional and full 5 axis NC programs. Ability to use Vericut to verify program. Document the machining process by creating detailed setup sheets. Work with machine shop to update changes. Must be Proficient in Mastercam X7 or Siemens NX 8.5. Prior experience with Vericut 7.0 and Solidworks a plus.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Create and document all programs. Update set-up sheets and tool lists as required.
  • Confer with appropriate engineering and other personnel in preparing and finalizing programs.
  • Comprehend dimensions, tolerances and geometric tolerances.
  • Understand and use standard drafting practices, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GDT) per ANSI Y 14.5.
  • Inspect using basic inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, depth gage, etc.)
  • Responsible for cutter knowledge and effectively utilizing the cutters for maximum efficiency.
  • Provide suggestions or advice to maximize the efficiency of Machine Shop.
  • Basic understanding of Machine Shop practices.
  • Ensures that documentation is in accordance with appropriate QMS procedures.
  • Follows safety precautions.
  • Ensures that the work area and equipment are kept clean.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Compensation:

$42.00 - $58.00 Hourly


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Required:

  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules.
  • Understanding of ANSI Y 14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing .
  • Must be proficient in the programming software currently in use as well as MS Word and Excel.
  • Effective writing and communication skills

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Haas controllers a plus.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Requires high school education or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as an off line CNC programmer.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Office environment.
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).
  • Must be able to visit Machine Shop in order to explain programs and solve programming problems.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Employee may generate, handle, manage, or work around hazardous materials and hazardous wastes.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds in accordance with KUAS General Safety Training guidelines.
