Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your mechanical expertise in a vital, hands-on environment. You'll work alongside a skilled, dedicated and safety-focused team to help keep our locomotives and rail vehicles running smoothly and reliably.
You'll help ensure our equipment meets operational, safety, and compliance standards, making a real impact on the performance and availability of passenger and freight mobility. Day-to-day, you'll collaborate with technicians, operations personnel, and maintenance leaders, supporting safe and efficient rail operations across the site.
You'll specifically take care of inspecting, repairing and maintaining diesel-powered rail vehicles, and you'll also contribute to troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, along with completing technical documentation within our asset management tools.
We'll look to you for:
• Completing inspections, maintenance tasks and corrective repairs on engines, braking systems and running gear
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical faults
• Operating locomotives and passenger coaches as part of equipment movement activities
• Using asset management systems to document work orders and maintain accurate technical records
• Supporting additional duties as outlined by the collective bargaining agreement
All about you
We value passion and attitude over experience. Here are some skills and experiences that will help you succeed:
• A high school diploma/GED and a passion for mechanical or electrical work
• Experience or understanding of diesel engines, mechanical systems or electrical troubleshooting
• Knowledge of reading blueprints and interpreting circuit schematics
• Familiarity with PC-based tools, including Microsoft Office
• A Valid Driver's License
• Ability to obtain a Qualified Maintenance Person (QMP) certification
Things you'll enjoy
Join us on a life-long transformative journey - the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills throughout your career. You'll also:
• Enjoy stability, hands-on challenges and long-term career prospects
• Collaborate with supportive colleagues and cross-functional teams
• Contribute to meaningful, safety-critical work that keeps our railway operations moving
• Work in an active, field-based environment
• Steer your career across functions, specializations and locations
• Benefit from ongoing learning and professional development
• Access a competitive hourly wage of $28.68/hr and robust union-supported benefits
You don't need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you'll be proud. If you're up for the challenge, we'd love to hear from you!
Important to note
This role is part of a unionized workforce, and membership is required. Work hours may include overtime, non-standard schedules and shift work. You'll be expected to work safely, wear appropriate PPE and participate in annual safety training.
This position requires passing all assessments, including a post-offer medical exam with drug and alcohol testing, as well as participation in ongoing random testing as required.
