Job description

The purpose of the General Manager is to manage and oversee all the operations within the facility. This position may also oversee a dedicated shuttle fleet based on customer needs.
Responsibilities
  • Site Safety & Planning
    • Ensuring the site is not in violation of Company, Customer, or OSHA rules
    • Oversee planning of monthly safety training
    • All Safety documents signed off on
    • All PPE is used as instructed
    • ⁠Facilitate Fork truck Training annually and upon new hire orientation
  • ⁠Labor Planning
    • Plan labor to follow production or customer needs
    • Utilize labor for VAS (value added services)
    • Remove excessive labor for profitability and efficiency
    • Evaluate associate retention and turnover
  • Discipline and Performance Reviews
    • Must enforce company disciplinary standards when needed and document all instances accordingly
    • Must keep all disciplinary documentation and update HR with all records
    • Coach performance when needed
    • Provide annual performance reviews
  • KPI Set Up & Management
    • Identify and record performance measurements to align with customers' goals and/or needs
    • Provide format for recording measurements and monitor as needed to reach goals
    • Add or remove goals challenging the operation to better serve the customer
  • ⁠Site layout, Space Management, Organization Chart, and procedures such as SOP, Work Instructions, and flow diagrams
    • Assist management and engineering with Site layout
    • Continuously monitoring space needs consolidating when possible
    • Provide operating documents for operation (work instructions, flow charts, etc.)
    • Provide org chart for customer and associates
  • P&L review and budgeting
    • Assist with annual budget for management review
    • Monitor monthly P&L and make necessary adjustments to sustain profitability
  • Develop staff by Cross Training / On Job Training
    • Train, motivate and assist in the development and growth of employees
    • Implement and maintain continuous improvement program
    • Challenge employees to be more productive
    • Coach performance and recognize assigned team of drivers
  • Issue necessary reports to Customer / Liaison
    • Provide reports based on customers' needs
    • Capture relevant information to be used during review periods
  • ⁠Implement productivity improvements (Six Sigma, 5S)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability and skills to assess and discuss operational performance in a business review meeting with customer
  • Ability to create and analyze data for metrics tracking
  • Skills to train and coach associates
  • Ability to identify and perform continuous improvement projects
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Know or be able to learn HighJump WMS, Oracle, and/or SAP Operating System
  • Ability to operate a computer
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, and Outlook)

Education/Experience
  • Must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Logistics
  • Must have 3-5 years of experience in Logistics, Distribution or Supply Chain management
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification, preferred
  • P&L Management experience, preferred
  • Experience with WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) and customer ERP, plus
