Description
Outdoor Adventures is seeking responsible and enthusiastic individuals to become Low Challenge, High Challenger, and/or Climbing Belay Instructors. Instructors are responsible for leading small groups of children or adults through team building activities, low ropes elements, high challenge course elements, and debriefing discussions. This is a dynamic position perfect for individuals looking to develop leadership skills and promote teamwork in a fun, outdoor setting.
Dates: March-October Hours: 10-35 per week, flexible schedule
Pay: Starting at $16.10 per hour; based on experience
Location: Thompson Park, Lincroft and Big Brook Park, Marlboro
Duties
  • Lead participants through ropes course activities, providing clear instructions and safety guidelines
  • Monitor participants closely to ensure adherence to safety protocols at all times
  • Assist with setup, inspection, and maintenance of the ropes course equipment
  • Provide encouragement and support to build confidence among participants of varying skill levels
  • Conduct safety briefings before activities and debrief after sessions
  • Respond promptly to any participant concerns or emergencies during activities
  • Promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages teamwork and personal growth

Requirements
  • Experience working with ages 10 and up
  • Demonstrate a level of fitness and conditioning appropriate for expected activities with reserves, if needed, to act swiftly in an emergency
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and instruct diverse groups of participants
  • Must have the ability to enforce safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift equipment as needed
  • Responsible attitude with a focus on safety and risk management and good decision making skills
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is desirable but not mandatory; training will be provided if necessary
  • Must be at least 19 years old and able to work flexible hours as needed

This position is not eligible for benefits.
