Job description

Position Summary

This Electrical Engineering position manages the installation and maintenance of all electrical systems for H5 Data Centers and operations of specialized power systems. Act as an Engineering resource for the complete H5 portfolio of mission critical facilities. Responsible for Engineering standards, project scope definition, high level schematic design, engineering document review and construction support along with commissioning and turn-over to Operations. Maintains design and process documentation. Provides full life-cycle support to H5 Data Centers from concept design through site implementation and operations. Continuingly evaluate new and existing technologies for value. Some travel required.

This position reports to the Senior Vice President.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Participate in all aspects of electrical design and engineering including development of basis of design, scope of work, implementation processes and commissioning plans.
  2. Work with internal teams and 3rd party engineering firms to select the right designs/equipment on projects/master plan including development of best standards.
  3. Schedules and leads maintenance of national power systems to ensure 100% system availability.
    1. Develops or reviews maintenance procedures for all power systems including detailed scripts for annual maintenance and projects.
    2. Develop and manage processes and programs to ensure the health and efficiency of power systems within the data centers.
    3. Be a subject matter expert on electrical items to help H5 effectively win new business.
  1. Lead, review, and approve designs for data center upgrades which improve availability and efficiency, in addition to capacity increases and monitoring.
  2. Support Operational teams in problem resolutions, Root Cause Analysis and design and process reviews.
    1. Provide immediate technical support to operation teams during critical events, on-call.
  1. Administers all aspects of the national electrical service agreements and vendors to ensure compliance.
  2. Subject matter expert on electrical systems with customers effectively winning new business for H5 Data Centers.
  3. Manages Electrical Sustainability program and utility power contracts and hedging.

Qualifications:

Education:

  1. Bachelorโ€™s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  1. Minimum 5 years in data center electrical design, commissioning, and critical system support.
  2. Experience in Data Center design, construction and commissioning including high voltage substations, complex power distribution systems, Battery and back-up systems, automation, and control systems.
  3. Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
  4. Understanding of data center electrical operations procedures, topologies (N+1, 2N, 3/ 2N, Catcher, etc.), equipment, switchgear and transformers, UPS, generators, etc.
  5. Ability to refine electrical system designs for availability, quality control, constructability, and cost efficiency.
  6. Understanding of both mechanical and electrical equipment and system design.
  7. Project Manager experience is a plus.
