U. S. Steel's Minnesota Ore Operations includes two iron ore mines in Northern Minnesota: Minntac in Mt. Iron and Keetac in Keewatin, Minnesota.
We are seeking a qualified candidate to serve as
Quality Assurance Manager - Laboratory and Ore Movement.
This position will report directly to the Director of Customer Quality, Pellet Movement & Technology and will manage the quality assurance laboratories and ore movement at our taconite processing facilities at Minntac and Keetac. In this role, the successful candidate will apply problem solving techniques to maintain accurate results, promote improvements, and assure a safe, stable, on-target operation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Managing the safety and performance of the Laboratory and Ore Movement employees.
- Assuring the accuracy of physical, chemical and metallurgical test results.
- Troubleshooting laboratory processes.
- Performing analytical investigations.
- Interpreting data and writing technical reports.
- Managing laboratory budgets.
- Ordering parts and equipment.
- Consulting with staff, operations and maintenance professionals.
- Supporting ISO 9001 protocols, specification development, training/teaching, and procedure development.
- Ore Movement responsibilities include managing rail movement to docks and all-rail customers for weight and quality.
REQUIREMENTS:- A Bachelor's Degree or 4-year Technical Degree with 3+ years of demonstrated management experience is required. Additional years of management experience will be considered in lieu of educational requirement.

- The salary range of $85,916 to $128,875 is a good faith estimate. Based on candidate skills/experience the final offer may be lower/higher.
