Fishbeck is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Surveyor / Survey Project Manager to support and expand our Geospatial practice in Indiana. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead impactful surveying and geospatial projects for INDOT, aviation clients (IAA and regional airports), municipalities, and construction initiatives statewide.
This position is ideal for a licensed professional who thrives in both field and office environments, embraces innovation such as UAS, LiDAR, and mobile mapping technologies, and is passionate about mentoring teams and delivering high-quality, technology-driven solutions.
What You'll Work On
  • Lead and oversee field survey and geospatial data collection operations, ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency.
  • Plan and coordinate projects, including crew scheduling, resource allocation, and logistics.
  • Interpret legal descriptions, plats, and engineering plans to support boundary, right-of-way, and infrastructure projects.
  • Perform and oversee complex survey computations and data processing for boundary, topographic, construction, and control surveys.
  • Integrate and manage data from UAS, terrestrial LiDAR, and mobile mapping platforms.
  • Review and validate deliverables to ensure compliance with INDOT, FAA, and municipal standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to define project scope, workflows, and strategies.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering technical excellence and career growth.
  • Implement QA/QC procedures, standards, and best practices for a growing geospatial team.
  • Support project budgeting, estimating, and proposal development.
  • Strengthen relationships with new and existing clients to help grow Fishbeck's Indiana presence.

What We're Looking For
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Licensed Professional Surveyor in Indiana (or ability to obtain).
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in surveying and/or geospatial services.
  • Strong background in boundary, topographic, construction, and control surveys.
  • Experience with robotic total stations, RTK GPS, and data collectors.
  • Familiarity with LiDAR, UAS, or mobile mapping technologies preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation (ORD).
  • Proven ability to lead crews, manage workflows, and deliver projects.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Minimum Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks requiring walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Visual acuity, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness necessary to perform surveying responsibilities.
