Job description

Position Title: Staff Accountant
Location: San Gabriel Valley, CA
Compensation: $65,000 - $90,000 / Annually
Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a growing organization in the construction/project-based industry. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, and partnering cross-functionally with project and operations teams.
This is a great opportunity for someone with project accounting or WIP experience who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do
General Accounting & Close
  • Prepare journal entries, maintain the general ledger, and perform account reconciliations
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
  • Assist in preparing financial statements in accordance with GAAP

Project Accounting & WIP
  • Maintain work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and job cost reporting
  • Support revenue recognition and project profitability tracking
  • Analyze project costs including labor, materials, and overhead

Financial Analysis
  • Perform variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance
  • Work with large datasets using Excel and reporting tools

Audit & Compliance
  • Assist with audit preparation (financial, tax, insurance)
  • Support tax filings including sales and property tax
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and company policies

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with AP/AR, project managers, and operations teams
  • Help identify process improvements and efficiencies

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
  • 1+ years of accounting experience
  • Construction or project accounting experience (WIP) strongly preferred
  • Understanding of GAAP fundamentals
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to analyze data
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
