Job description

Senior Service Technician
Alatas Americas is a premier provider of crane services, repairs, and spare parts for the maritime, offshore, and heavy-lift industries and is seeking an experienced Senior Service Technician to be based in the Pacific Northwest United States.
The Senior Service Technician will diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic equipment for various types of cranes, heavy equipment, and aerial equipment. The Senior Service Technician will identify, analyze, and repair product failures, and will order and replace parts as needed. The Senior Service Technician will be responsible for communicating effectively with management and customers in a professional manner, utilizing a computer and telephone for constant communication. The Senior Service Technician will be responsible for traveling to a variety of sites on a regular basis for the purpose of inspection, troubleshooting, overhauling, or repairing equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Inspect and adjust crane mechanisms or lifting accessories to prevent malfunctions or damage.
• Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
• Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using power and hand tools.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical and electronic systems.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair diesel engine/power unit and emissions systems
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair hydraulic equipment / components and control systems of various manufacturers
• Ensure all required safety equipment and operator aids are present and functional as designed
• Operate and inspect machines and heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
• Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
• Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on customer equipment and on tools used to affect service or repairs.
• Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Overhaul and test equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using diagnostic equipment such as computer diagnostic tools, scan tools, test equipment, and calibration devices.
• Examine parts for damage or excessive wear.
• Self-direct daily activities with little to no guidance, making decisions regarding safety, technical, and organizational issues.
• Communicate professionally and effectively within a broad spectrum and in multiple cultures.
• Create technical reports of findings which include fault descriptions, analysis, and recommendations for repair.
• Leadership - directing subordinate technicians as required and leading all field aspects of projects in conjunction with the service manager or project manager.
• Attend service requests as required at customer locations in various states and countries.
• Fit equipment, subassemblies, or components to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
• Perform periodic inspections and condition assessments of equipment to regulatory or classification standards.
• Comfortable and able to frequently travel and preferably within 3 hours drive to the Seattle area.
• Other duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSES
• Qualified Rigger
• Valid Driver's License/Enhanced Driver's License
• Valid Passport.
• TWIC: Transportation Workers Identification Credential
• Forklift Certification
• Crane Inspection Experience/Certification
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Prior experience working in the Construction, Oil & Gas, and/or Maritime industries preferred
• PLC troubleshooting / programming highly preferred
• Must have 2-5 years of related experience or training.
Compensation: Competitive pay and benefits $40 - $50+ per hour, depending on experience and location.
