Analytical Development Scientist 1

Pace Life Sciences is a premier Contract Research and Development Organization located just north of Cambridge, MA providing pharmaceutical research and development services for small molecules, protein biologics, oligonucleotide and mRNA therapeutics, and other innovative drug candidates.

Summary

We seek a highly motivated scientist with experience in analytical method development to support method and formulation development. Our clients include biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies from new startups to those with global operations who partner with us to develop novel and innovative medicines. This is a full-time scientist position in Woburn, MA with title commensurate to experience.

Compensation: $95,000.00 - 140,000.00 per year

Dependent on experience

Responsibilities include:

  • Independently design and execute experiments, analyze data, and present results.
  • Routinely communicate with clients to present results and describe planned experiments clearly and concisely both verbally and in written documents.
  • Strive to meet agreed-upon timelines and regularly communicate progress to stakeholders.
  • Continuously improve research and development skills to advance technical capabilities of Pace.

Required background and experience includes:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience and a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, or closely related discipline.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, including lab adapted and primary cells, including PBMC and T-Cells
  • Experience with gene therapy modalities, including lentivirus
  • Experience with flow cytometry, including data analysis
  • Experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques, including qPCR and NGS
  • Understanding of R&D, GLP, and GMP laboratory settings
  • Optional: hands-on experience in multiple chromatography (SEC, IEX, & IPRP HPLC/UPLC), spectroscopy (UV, CD), mass spectrometry (LC-MS, LC-MS/MS), and electrophoresis (CGE, PAGE) technologies.
  • Established track record of significant contributions as an individual technical expert as well as the ability to thrive in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Development and use of analytical methods for identity, assay, purity/impurity, and characterization of large nucleic acid molecules such as oligonucleotides, gRNA, mRNA.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills as well as polished presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage people and projects

Mobility to work in a lab and office setting, use standard office and lab equipment and stamina to sit for extended periods of time; exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects; vision to read printed materials and computer screens; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Senior Scientists will be required to work longer days from time to time to complete a project or finish job responsibilities.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in a lab and office setting. Work is subject to chemicals, fumes, gases, noxious odors and related items in a lab setting.
