Position Summary

The Learning & Development (L&D) Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and leading a comprehensive learning strategy that supports business growth, leadership development, and employee engagement. This position is both strategic and hands-on, focused on building scalable learning initiatives that enhance performance, strengthen leadership capability, and drive retention.

This individual will partner closely with business leaders to shape a culture of learning and continuous development, delivering practical and impactful learning solutions for office, field, and technical employees.

Responsibilities

Learning Strategy and Leadership

  • Lead the design and execution of scalable learning programs that align with business objectives and operational priorities.
  • Partner with leadership to identify skill gaps and implement development programs that build organizational capability.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning that promotes growth, innovation, and high performance.
  • Apply adult learning principles and proven instructional design methodologies, (ADDIE, SAM, etc.) to ensure programs are engaging, relevant, and results driven.
  • Define and track key metrics to evaluate learning effectiveness, knowledge retention, and business impact.

Program Design and Development

  • Design and develop engaging learning solutions, including instructor-led, virtual, and eLearning programs, job aids, and performance support tools.
  • Incorporate modern learning approaches such as blended learning, microlearning, and gamification to enhance engagement and retention.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and internal stakeholders to ensure content accuracy and alignment with business needs.
  • Maintain a central repository of learning materials, ensuring content remains current, consistent, and compliant with company standards.
  • Manage internal and external partners for program design, content creation, and delivery.

Facilitation and Delivery

  • Deliver engaging in-person and virtual learning experiences that accommodate a variety of learning styles.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and follow-up support to reinforce learning and on-the-job application.
  • Tailor content to meet the needs of diverse audiences, including field, remote, and office employees.
  • Promote an inclusive and collaborative learning environment that encourages participation and knowledge sharing.

Technology

  • Lead the implementation and management of a Learning Management System (LMS), including vendor selection, content migration, and user training.
  • Utilize the LMS to deliver, track, and report on learning participation and outcomes.
  • Stay current with learning technologies and tools, including virtual facilitation platforms (Microsoft Teams, Zoom) and eLearning software (Articulate, Captivate, Camtasia).

Talent Development and Partnership

  • Partner with business and HR leaders to establish career paths, competency frameworks, and development plans that support growth and succession planning.
  • Develop and implement structured onboarding programs that accelerate new hire productivity.
  • Provide guidance and consultation to managers on coaching, performance development, and employee growth planning.
  • Align learning initiatives with overall talent management and organizational development strategies.

Required Competencies

  • Demonstrated experience deploying and managing an LMS; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with eLearning and virtual facilitation tools.
  • Strong ability to evaluate learning effectiveness and make data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong collaboration, relationship-building, and project management skills.
  • Creative and innovative approach to learning design with the ability to balance strategy and execution.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to excellence.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Adult Learning, Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in learning and development with a proven record of designing and delivering impactful programs.

Preferred Experience/Competencies

  • CPLP, CPTD, or similar professional certification preferred.
