Description
Job Purpose: Perform a wide range of landscape maintenance duties including litter removal, planting, irrigation, mulching, weeding, pest control, pruning, grading and turf care in Forest Park, within areas maintained by Forest Park Forever.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Assist with installation and maintenance of annual and perennial beds and planters
  • Perform shrub planting, pruning, monitoring and maintenance.
  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of irrigation systems
  • Operate light equipment, automotive equipment, utility vehicles, power tools and hand tools
  • Remove trash and debris from landscape areas
  • Perform landscape maintenance and general maintenance tasks
  • Assist seasonal and volunteer staff to accomplish maintenance goals
  • Provide support for Forest Park Forever special events

Requirements
Qualifications Required:
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in the horticulture or related field is required.
  • Applicant must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to exert physical effort for extended periods in performing manual labor in extreme temperatures required.
  • Ability to frequently move and/or lift up to fifty (50) pounds and carry it a reasonable distance, and occasionally lift and/or move more than eighty (80) pounds.
  • The applicant must have knowledge of tools, materials and practices of grounds maintenance, while possessing the ability to operate an automotive vehicle and light equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Ability to hear, understand and follow oral and written instructions over radio, telephone and in person.
