This position requires someone who is punctual, self-directed, respectful, organized, and comfortable working with the public in a sales and outreach role. The ideal candidate will take pride in representing TTBP with professionalism, care, and consistency while supporting our goals of community education, equitable food access, and stronger local food systems.

Responsibilities

  • Attend 23 farmers markets per week in San Antonio and surrounding counties.

  • Sell products, support EBT/SNAP transactions, and provide friendly, accurate customer service.
  • Track inventory, sales, and basic market notes after each event.
  • Work alongside and help coordinate a volunteer assisting at each market.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and secure booth space at all times.
  • Money handling and end deposits with exact verifications per pop up locations.
  • Assist customers with product selection and provide exceptional service.
  • Set up and break down the market booth, ensuring an inviting atmosphere.
  • Manage inventory levels and restock products as needed throughout the day.
  • Promote and educate customers about our buffalo products and sustainable practices.
  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using a point-of-sale system.
  • Collect customer feedback to help improve our offerings and services.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the market space and products.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve sales goals and enhance customer experience.

Qualifications

  • A reliable truck or suitable vehicle capable of hauling a freezer and booth equipment is required.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy items, up to 5075 lbs.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable, punctual, honest, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions and during early mornings/weekends.
  • Basic math, money-handling, and inventory tracking skills.
  • Respect for Indigenous values, food sovereignty, community health, and public service is strongly preferred.
  • Previous farmers market, retail, food sales, or outreach experience is a plus.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in retail or food sales preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with customers.
  • Ability to work weekends and early mornings, as required by market schedules.
  • Passion for sustainable agriculture and knowledge of buffalo products is a plus.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Basic math skills for handling cash and processing transactions.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and a commitment to customer satisfaction.

  • Approximately 15 hours per week
  • Estimated annual pay: about $14,040 before taxes
  • Inventory, freezer, and booth equipment provided

Schedule

  • Part-time, approximately 15 hours per week.
  • Typically 23 market days per week, including weekends.
  • Early morning setup and midday breakdown required.
  • Some travel between San Antonio and surrounding counties may be needed.
