Job description

Salem Sports Events is on the hunt for a meticulous, hands-on Finishing Technician to join our fabrication team in High Point, NC. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-profile sports activations, branded environments, and experiential installations seen across the country.
What You'll Do:
As a Finishing Technician, your work is the final touch that brings projects to life. You'll be responsible for surface prep, sanding, patching, priming, touch-ups, and detailed finishing across a variety of materials including wood, metal, acrylic, and composites. You'll collaborate closely with painters, fabricators, and project managers to ensure every element that leaves our shop meets our high visual and quality standards.
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for someone with hands-on experience in shop or scenic environments, who understands the importance of craftsmanship and consistency. Whether you're sealing, buffing edges, or applying texture coatings, you know how to work fast without sacrificing quality. A strong eye for detail and an ability to work independently - and as part of a fast-moving team - are essential.
Bonus points if you've worked in live event production, experiential marketing, scenic fabrication, or custom exhibit building.
Additional Info:
This role is based in High Point, NC, candidates should be within commuting range or willing to relocate. This is an on-site role that requires physical work in a shop environment and occasional support on event builds.

Position Summary: As an Finishing Technician you will be responsible for preparing product to be painted and staining wood products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
  • Responsible for high quality creation of products according to specifications.
  • Responsible for utilizing plans for production.
  • Masks and protects parts that are not to be painted or coated.
  • Monitors project progression to ensure on-time completion.
  • Perform basic daily maintenance and cleaning of all equipment per manufacturer's instructions.
  • Coordinate with Paint and Finishing Manager and/or relevant personnel to communicate workflow and project status.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure the maintenance and upkeep of the physical location.
  • Responsible for applying stain and wood putty or wood filler to products

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate and maintain successful team relationships.
  • Meets all assigned goals and assists others in accomplishing their goals.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Responsible for safely loading/unloading materials for transport.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong Attention to detail.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Must be able to manage and navigate projects until completion in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Work Experience:
  • No educational requirements
  • Prior work experience as a painter in a metal shop (preferred)
