Job Summary
The Marketing/Client Services Associate (Intern) supports both outreach and client relations efforts that help Meals on Wheels build community connections, attract donors and volunteers, and serve clients efficiently and compassionately. This hybrid role combines creativity, communication, and client engagement to strengthen awareness and impact.
Pay: $12/hour
Location: Merrillville, IN
Position Type: Marketing/Client Services / Internship
Schedule: Flexible hours- Monday through Friday (minimum 8 hours/week preferred)
Reports To: Director of Community Engagement & Marketing
About Us
Since 1977, Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana has delivered over 10 million meals to neighbors in need- seniors, people with disabilities, veterans, children, cancer patients, pregnant women, and others facing barriers to nutrition and social connection.
Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and scheduling content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Support email marketing and donor outreach campaigns using provided templates and messaging guidelines
  • Help create flyers, press releases, or visuals promoting campaigns, events, and volunteer opportunities
  • Collect and edit client/volunteer stories to highlight Meals on Wheels' community impact
  • Photograph or video events (if comfortable) to capture the spirit of service
Client Services (Program Support)
  • Assist with client intake calls and updates to ensure accurate information and timely service
  • Provide courteous phone or email support to clients and families regarding meal schedules and program details
  • Help update databases, track outreach efforts, and assemble client materials (welcome packets, feedback forms, etc.)
  • Participate in occasional community events, client appreciation activities, or volunteer fairs
Qualifications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic understanding of marketing, communications, or customer service principles
  • Comfortable with email platforms, social media, and basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace)
  • Professional, positive, and reliable demeanor
  • Commitment to the mission of Meals on Wheels and compassion for clients served

  • Experience with Canva, Mailchimp, or content scheduling tools
Education
  • PNW Work-Study Student

Training & Support
Intern will receive orientation and training from staff in both the Marketing and Client Services departments. Guidance will be provided for all assignments, and collaboration is encouraged to enhance skills and creativity.
