What is fetal growth and development?

Fetal growth and development refer to the stages and processes by which a fetus forms and matures inside the womb, from conception to birth. This includes the formation of all major organs, tissues, and body systems, as well as increases in length and weight. Healthy fetal development is essential for the baby’s survival and well-being, and can be influenced by genetics, maternal health, nutrition, and environmental factors. Monitoring fetal growth helps healthcare providers detect and manage potential complications.
