Job description

Schedule: Full time; primarily Monday through Friday with rotating weekends/holidays. Must be able to work a varied schedule of 1st and 2nd shifts.

Job Summary
The bench Environmental Services Manager is responsible for directing and overseeing the daily operations of the Environmental Services department within acute care hospitals. This floating/bench role provides management support across the district and is assigned to hospital locations in and around the Anderson area based on business needs. In this role, the manager coordinates and supervises frontline associates, supports staffing needs, and assists with training and ongoing development. The Environmental Services Manager serves as a key liaison between hospital administration and clinical departments, ensuring consistent service delivery, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and the highest level of customer and patient satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversees department financial performance, including monitoring expenditures, managing financial data and statistics, and ensuring operations remain within budget
  • Develops and recommends the departmental operating budget and drives fiscal responsibility through effective cost controls
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and supervises all departmental functions and daily operations
  • Establishes work standards, workflows, and staffing models to promote efficiency and service excellence
  • Develops, implements, and administers departmental policies, procedures, and quality assurance programs
  • Coordinates Environmental Services activities with hospital administration and interdepartmental partners
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards
  • Demonstrates proactive leadership in achieving facility goals, performance plans, and quality outcomes
  • Leads and supports continuous improvement initiatives, including Total Quality Management (TQM) processes
  • Encourages staff engagement, professional development, creativity, and innovation
  • Additional duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of EVS or housekeeping supervisory or management experience in an acute care hospital, long-term care, senior living, or comparable healthcare environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, and customer service excellence
  • Must be flexible and able to travel to various hospital accounts within the district, typically within a one-hour radius, based on business needs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively engage individuals and groups
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities in both individual and team-based settings
  • Ability to lead using a participative, team-oriented management style that promotes engagement and accountability
  • Working knowledge of budgeting processes, expense control, and awareness of basic profit and loss (P&L) concepts
  • Excellent administrative, organizational, and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
  • CRCST or other applicable sterile processing certification preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and web-based tools
