The CVOR RN Specialty Coordinator is a registered professional nurse experienced in Operating Room nursing with advanced knowledge in specified specialty. She/he provides direct care to patients of all age populations in OR using the nursing process. She/he is responsible for acting as a preceptor in the specialty service. Is responsible for managing care of assigned patients and directing activities of ancillary staff. Is responsible for ordering and maintaining all CVOR equipment and supplies. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient being served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and assess data reflective of the patient's current status in relation to their age specific needs. Participates in Process Improvement Program

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Licensure: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Georgia. ACLS and BLS required

Experience: Previous CVOR surgical experience required

Skills: Finger and hand dexterity. Ability to obtain and interpret pertinent information in terms of the patient's needs. Ability to select proper instrumentation/supplies appropriate for the procedure being performed and the age group of the patient served.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Prolonged walking and standing required, with the ability to lift and move patients. Ability to tolerate rapid patient turnover and high census. Works in typical surgery setting with patients experiencing a wide range of surgical procedures and anesthetics. Required to take call, with some late day assignments requested. Ability to effectively cope with acute emergency situations.
