Job Summary:

Under the direction of the supervising provider and office Manager, the Medical Assistant is responsible for providing both clinical and administrative support to ensure efficient office operations and high-quality patient care. This role supports patient flow by preparing patients for examination, obtaining vital signs, assisting with clinical procedures, processing specimens, and maintaining accurate documentation in the electronic medical record system.

The Medical Assistant also assists with front office support as needed, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and helping create a positive patient experience. The primary goal of this position is to support safe, organized, and patient-centered care while promoting efficient daily clinic operations.

DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during patient visits and clinical procedures.
  • Obtain and accurately record vital signs, patient histories, and other required clinical information.
  • Collect, label, process, and prepare specimens in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain and sterilize medical instruments and equipment in compliance with infection control and safety standards.
  • Document patient information accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Support patient flow and assist in maintaining clean, stocked, and organized exam and treatment areas.
  • Answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, and assist with other front office duties as needed.
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, providers, and team members.
  • Follow established clinical workflows, office procedures, HIPAA requirements, and company policies.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned to support efficient office and patient care operations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of clinical medical assistant duties, including rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and assisting with patient care.
  • Knowledge of phlebotomy procedures and specimen collection, labeling, and processing.
