About the Opportunity

The Senior Business Analyst - ERP & Student Information Systems is part of the Application Team at Rider University's Office of Information Technology (OIT).  The Sr BA's main role is to partner with end users, understand and optimize their business processes, and to assist them in becoming more efficient and effective utilizing technology. The overall goal of OIT is to support Rider's drive for student success. This position reports to the Director of Enterprise Applications.

This is a hybrid position - there are options to work from home but several days per week must be spent in the office at Rider University's Lawrenceville, NJ location.

Where you will make an impact
  • Gather requirements, create functional specifications based on requirements, create test plans, test/validate project deliverables, validation of system upgrades, troubleshoot operational tasks.
  • Bridge the gap of knowledge between OIT and the various business units, maintain continuity on critical processes and projects with remote consultants when required.
  • Acquire institutional business process knowledge, provide business process improvement recommendations, and promote best practices.
  • Work on complex projects or complex operational tasks. 
  • Work with remote consultants on designated projects to ensure there is no gap of understanding between the consultant and the Rider business client. Serve as a backup for consultant for short term/emergency.
  • Troubleshoot errors and issues encountered by end users and provide resolution to solve issue to client's satisfaction
  • Train end users or technical support staff to use and support programs.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction until the project is complete
  • Create and update ticket tracking system with required information.
  • Create or maintain documentation of user guides, handbooks, and/or functional specifications.
What you will bring
  • 5+ years' experience in Business Analysis, Application/Database Development, IT Project Management, or similar field.  
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully gaining and keeping client trust, including managing communications and expectations with clients.
  • Experience in working on one or more enterprise projects that touched a variety of end-users or clients.
  • Demonstrated experience handling multiple projects simultaneously and managing competing priorities.
  • Experience analysing and documenting data flows at a high level. 
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills with a "can-do", customer-first attitude.
  • A focus on continuous learning and adoption of new concepts, technologies and problem-solving techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to maintain effective working relationships, and work collaboratively with clients, co-workers, and vendors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Understanding of higher education related business processes is strongly preferred (in these areas:  Finance, Human Resources, Payroll, Registrar, Accounts Receivable, Admissions, Academic Affairs, and/or Advancement).
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner, Degree Works, Workflow is strongly preferred.
