Each platform has its own formatting requirements and limitations, which can affect how interactive elements or complex designs appear. Adapting files to meet these specifications while maintaining the author's vision requires a strong understanding of ePub and mobi formats, as well as thorough testing on multiple devices. Collaboration with authors, publishers, and developers is key to troubleshooting issues and delivering a seamless reading experience.

What are Ebook Designers?

Ebook Designers are professionals who specialize in creating visually appealing and user-friendly electronic books for digital platforms such as Kindle, Apple Books, or PDF readers. They combine graphic design skills with knowledge of e-publishing standards to format text, images, and interactive elements. Ebook Designers work with authors, publishers, or companies to ensure that ebooks are both attractive and readable across different devices. Their responsibilities include layout design, typography selection, image optimization, and sometimes even basic coding to ensure compatibility. Ultimately, they help turn manuscripts into polished digital products ready for distribution.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Ebook Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Ebook Designer, you need a strong grasp of graphic design principles, typography, and digital publishing formats, often supported by a background in design or publishing. Proficiency with tools like Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and eBook-specific software (such as Sigil or Calibre), as well as familiarity with EPUB and MOBI formats, is essential. Creativity, attention to detail, and solid communication skills help designers create visually appealing layouts that meet client needs and enhance user experience. Job description

Inkitt is building the Disney of the 21st Century, standing at the forefront of technology and entertainment. Leveraging AI and predictive algorithms, Inkitt discovers unknown stories and turns them into blockbuster hits, producing a new $1M ebook every 4 weeks and selling directly to consumers through its Galatea app. Inkitt has become the 11th most bestseller-generating publisher in the world, boasting a 40x higher hit-rate than traditional publishers. Recently raising a Series C and backed by some of the top VC's such as: Khosla, Kleiner Perkins, and NEA Ventures, our recent expansion into CandyJar TV is only the beginning of our journey to becoming the next-gen entertainment powerhouse.
What You'll Do:
  • Read books and watch series to extract key USPs and pivotal story elements; synthesize them into punchy hooks and paid ad creative briefs engineered to drive conversion across paid channels.
  • Write compelling ad copy and hooks for paid social, distilling a full story into a two sentence scroll stopper optimized for performance.
  • Own the paid creative production lifecycle for UA campaigns: conceive performance driven angles, brief designers, manage tickets end to end, and iterate based on UA feedback and ROAS/conversion data.
  • Embed within the UA team to align creative with funnel signals, translating what's working in paid channels into new angles, formats, and tests that move CAC and LTV.
  • Stay deeply plugged into BookTok, Bookstagram, and Reddit to identify trending formats and hooks before they peak, then translate them into paid ad concepts.
  • Experiment with AI video tools and image editing to independently build and iterate on performance assets.
  • Develop and manage a pipeline of paid creatives aligned to key marketing beats, evergreen campaigns, and UA testing roadmaps.
  • Manage external production partners for more complex creative executions.

What You'll Bring:
  • 3+ years of experience in creative strategy or content marketing specifically in support of paid UA or performance marketing, ideally in a fast moving startup.
  • Exceptional copywriting skills built for paid social. You can write a hook that stops the scroll and a two sentence synopsis that sells a 400 page book.
  • A genuine love of romance: books, movies, TV. You're the person who actually wants to read this content all day.
  • Active presence on BookTok, Bookstagram, or romance reading communities. You know what's trending, what tropes are having a moment, and what's coming next.
  • Strong analytical instincts: comfortable in Google Sheets/Excel, fluent in performance metrics, and able to connect creative decisions to paid channel outcomes.
  • Hands on experience working alongside a paid/UA team with a solid understanding of full funnel marketing and how creative impacts conversion.
  • Proficiency with creative tools: CapCut, Premiere Pro, image editing, and AI video tools.
  • A bias toward action. You move fast, learn fast, and don't wait for a perfect brief to get started.

Who We Are Looking For:
  • Autonomous
  • Bring solutions instead of problems
  • Data driven
  • Quick to action
  • A high functioning workaholic
  • Looking for exponential career growth
  • Have lots of fun building a generational AI x Entertainment company

What We'll Offer:
  • 401k plan, designed to help you save for the future
  • Health benefits tailored to your needs, including medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Professional coaching for everyone
  • Team-building events, including our annual Tulum trip
  • Unlimited access to our Galatea app and CandyJarTV app
  • Unlimited budget for self-development books
  • Charity donation of your choice at your one year anniversary
  • Free lunch in office everyday
  • Class Pass membership for US based employee and gym access for Berlin employees
  • Dog friendly offices in Berlin and San Francisco

$110,000 - $130,000 a year
Salary offers are determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, and alignment with the requirements of the role, as well as internal equity and market benchmarks.
At Inkitt, we strive to build a company culture and provide employment opportunities based on diversity and inclusion. We believe every author should have an equal opportunity to succeed, as should our team members. As a growing team from 20+ countries, we welcome everyone to apply.
We look forward to hearing from you!
