Job description

Position Title: Production Engineer
Reports to: Operations Manager
Job Summary: Engineering / line support for the daily production of LaPorte site unit operations
Responsibilities:
  • Responsibility for assigned production units in compliance with established health, safety, environmental, and quality policies, procedures, permits and regulatory requirements
  • Technical review and evaluation of unit operations including data monitoring, analysis, and record keeping
  • Develop / champion improvements that enhance/upgrade unit performance
  • Process safety information maintenance including procedures, technical information, drawings, etc.
  • Maintenance coordination and scheduling, including preventive maintenance compliance
  • Participation in and support of project engineering, new installations, new product introductions
  • Troubleshooting / problem solving for unit operations
  • Participation in the proper training and direction of the workforce
  • Emergency crew participation including fire brigade, hazmat response, and confined space entry rescue

Education and/or Experience
  • A Technical bachelor's degree is required. Chemical Engineering is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years' chemical plant manufacturing experience is required with an emphasis on unit operation and leadership.
  • Demonstrated project leadership experience, including start up and commissioning efforts for new processes/equipment and new product introduction is required
  • In-depth understanding of chemical plant unit operations including reaction mechanisms, distillation operations, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, mass transfer, kinetics, etc. is required.
  • Direct experience with PSM/RMP covered processes is required, including participation in Process Hazard Analyses, Management of Change and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.
  • Demonstrated record of achieving cost efficiency is required
  • Strong safety background in a hazardous chemical process environment is required.
