THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:
The Manager, Product Design plays a critical leadership role in shaping scalable, high-quality digital experiences across Ulta Beauty's web and mobile platforms. This role is responsible for overseeing the evolution and adoption of Ulta Beauty's design system, while also guiding design across platform capabilities that support marketing technology, retail media, and data-informed guest experiences.
Reporting to the Director of Experience Design, this role blendspeople leadership, strategic design thinking, and platform-level executionThe Manager leads a team of product and system designers and partners closely with Product, Engineering, Data, Marketing, Loyalty, Media, and external partners to deliver scalable, guest-centric experiences that drive bothbusiness impact and brand excellence
This role plays a key part in scaling Ulta Beauty's design maturity-ensuring consistent foundations through the design system while also enabling dynamic, personalized, and monetized experiences across owned digital channels.
YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY:
  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of designers across design systems, personalization and media-driven experiences
  • Set clear direction, expectations and growth plans while fostering a culture of collaboration, craft excellence and accountability
  • Elevate design quality through reviews, critiques and hands-on coaching
  • Partner with cross-functional teams in an agile development environment, supporting sprint planning, backlog refinement, and continuous improvement
  • Own and evolve the vision, roadmap and adoption of Palette, Ulta Beauty's design system, across all channels.
  • Ensure consistent, accessible and brand-compliant components, patterns, tokens and documentation across web and mobile platforms
  • Establish and uphold governance models for contribution, review, versioning and release management
  • Drive enablement through documentation, training, office hours and cross-team collaboration
  • Guide teams in creating modular, flexible design solutions that can support changing business strategies and partner needs
  • Balance guest experience quality with business objectives, ensuring designs feel intentional, trustworthy, and integrated
  • Use data, experimentation results and guest behavior to continuously refine and improve experiences
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to align design intent with scalable technical implementation
  • Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, UX Research, Marketing, Media, Loyalty, and third-party vendors to define and deliver platform experiences
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Facilitate and/or participate in workshops, critiques and design reviews to align product teams
  • Support QA and UAT efforts to ensure fidelity between design and shipped experiences
  • Partner with third-party vendors and internal
  • Support hiring, onboarding and team rituals to foster a strong design system culture
  • Stay current on product design and design system best practices
THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:
  • 3+ years of experience managing or leading design teams
  • 8-10+ years of experience in product and UI/UX or product design, with demonstrated design system expertise
  • BS/BA in Design, HCI, Graphic Design or a related field preferred
  • Proven experience with design systems, platform-level thinking and cross-channel consistency
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating system thinking, scalable solutions and business impact
  • Expert-level proficiency with Figma (components, libraries, variables, workflows)
  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks or coding languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus
  • Experience working in agile, mobile-first or e-commerce environments strongly preferred
  • Passion for building elegant, scalable experiences that serve both guests and the business

The pay range for this position is $102,900.00 - $150,000.00 / Year with the opportunity for eligible associates to earn additional compensation pursuant to the Company's bonus plan. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business and organizational needs. Full-time positions are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life and disability benefits. Part-time positions are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
