Summary
Under general supervision of the Supervisor, Court Services Unit, the Court Aide plans and organizes the daily court session for up to three courtrooms using advanced technology. Accurate and timely handling of all persons participating in cases assigned to the daily session is critical to the efficient handling of matters before the court.
Essential Duties
  • Receives and inventories the court list to evaluate and organize the daily court session.
  • Records presence of all case participants necessary for the daily hearings and directs appropriately.
  • Organizes cases, according to a predetermined order based on the type, distance, and circumstance of each case identified as ready to proceed.
  • Coordinates with various individuals or agencies involved in the facilitation of the court session to include but not limited to, Detention, Sheriffs, Constables, Attorneys, Service Providers, Probation Officers.
  • Gathers and escorts participants into the juvenile hearing.
  • Communicates with the Judge or Hearing Officer as necessary to efficiently facilitate the court session.
  • Communicates any necessary assistance for visitors to the appropriate county department.
  • Coordinates all video conferencing for the department.
  • Records and manages the court session statistics.
  • Meets with the supervisor as needed to discuss and resolve minor problems.
  • Ensure that all confidential information is secure from public viewing.
  • Substitutes for Receptionist as needed.
  • Performs related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications
  • General office skills with two (2) years of experience.
  • Excellent telephone and communication skills.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and ability to interact with the public.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Windows and PC functionality.
  • Good organizational skills, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer knowledge including Windows and PC functionality.
  • Strong typing skills.
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Court Processes preferred.

Physical Demands

Occasionally, the employee will need to reach or work with arms above shoulder height, kneel, stoop, crouch or squat, crawl, climb stairs, twist or rotate at the waist while working; push, lift, or carry items.
Work Environment
  • Office setting with regular public interaction and court-related duties.
  • Ability to function well in high-stress situations. Overtime as needed and approved or directed by the unit supervisor. Exposure to distraught families, victims, etc. and disorderly juveniles.
