What is a Decal job?

A Decal job typically involves applying, designing, cutting, or installing decals, stickers, or graphics on various surfaces like vehicles, windows, walls, or equipment. Responsibilities may include preparing surfaces, printing or cutting decals, and ensuring proper alignment and adhesion. This role is common in industries such as automotive customization, signage, and promotional branding. Attention to detail and proficiency with tools like vinyl cutters or heat presses are often required. Depending on the industry, the job may also involve customer service and customization work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Decal position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Decal Installer (commonly referred to in the signage or automotive industries), you need proficiency in applying vinyl decals, understanding surface preparation, and strong attention to detail, usually supported by related on-the-job experience or technical training. Familiarity with tools like heat guns, squeegees, graphic plotters, and specialized software (such as Adobe Illustrator or cutting software) is important. Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork skills help installers collaborate effectively with clients and coworkers. These abilities ensure precise, visually appealing installations that meet client specifications and industry standards.

What are the typical challenges faced by someone working as a Decal Installer?

Decal Installers often encounter challenges such as ensuring precise application without air bubbles or wrinkles, working on a variety of surfaces and vehicle types, and sometimes working in variable weather conditions for outdoor installations. Attention to cleanliness, surface preparation, and following exact measurements is essential to produce a professional-looking result. Many installers work on tight deadlines, requiring efficient time management and adaptability, especially when handling large or complex graphics. Team collaboration is also important, as projects may require coordination with designers, production staff, and clients. Overcoming these challenges enhances the overall quality of installation work and customer satisfaction.

Job description

Overview
We're looking for a floor-present, operations-savvy EHS Engineer to lead the charge on safety, compliance, and environmental performance across a high-mix truck body manufacturing facility. You'll serve as the right hand to the Plant Manager when it comes to ensuring OSHA and EPA standards are met, especially in high-risk areas like painting and decaling, while also shaping the long-term culture of safety and accountability on the floor.
This is a hands-on role embedded in daily operations. You'll walk the floor, lead training for new hires, conduct root cause investigations, and collaborate closely with production leaders to solve real-world safety challenges. A background in manufacturing operations or continuous improvement is a strong asset, you'll be more effective if you understand the daily pressures and tradeoffs of production, and know how to influence change within that context.
You'll play a critical role in maintaining air permitting compliance, managing hazardous materials, improving ergonomics on the line, and building proactive EHS systems. If you're someone who thrives in fast-paced, complex environments and wants to make a lasting impact on safety, compliance, and culture, this is a rare opportunity to take ownership and grow.
