A chair car/wheelchair van driver, also known as a chair car driver, provides safe and efficient non-emergency transportation for disabled, handicapped, or elderly persons to and from their destinations including medical appointments, procedures, and healthcare facilities. Wheelchair van and bus drivers will aid patients as they enter and exit the vehicle, secure wheelchairs, and ensure safety at all times. Chair Car/Wheelchair Van Driver Position Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record through a DMV background check
  • CPR Certified (we will provide training and certification if needed)
  • Commitment to providing exemplary customer service
  • Previous experience in patient transportation, delivery driver, bus driver, customer service, or a related field preferred
  • Pass a background check including CORI
  • Pass a drug screen and lift test

Chair Car/Wheelchair Van Driver Position Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and maneuver 125 pounds with assistance and without difficulty
  • Ability to maneuver a patient-loaded wheelchair up and down three stairs without difficulty
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
