**LOCATION & WORK AVAILABILITY**

This position is of a Hybrid Work Arrangement requiring; 4-days in office, 1-day remote per week. Based at our corporate headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina (North Hills).

The Financial Controls and Data Insights Analyst is a key role that supports the Controllership function. The Analyst will leverage data, AI-driven tools, and automation to embed analytics across finance operations-delivering business intelligence, continuous monitoring, and financial assurance over critical data. The role will strengthen the company's control environment by building automated accounting controls, performing finance analytics, and providing real-time insights that drive confident decision-making.

The Analyst will partner with functions across the organization to assess business activities, identify process improvement opportunities, and leverage AI and automation to enhance financial assurance and monitoring. This role will develop and execute repeatable, scalable data analytics processes-including automated workflows and intelligent controls-to strengthen the integrity of financial data. The role will also focus on building business intelligence capabilities within the accounting function to deliver proactive, forward-looking insights.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute and enhance the Finance data analytics strategy, incorporating AI and machine learning techniques to deliver proactive financial insights and assurance.
  • Design, build, and maintain automated accounting controls, data models, reporting systems, dashboards, and performance metrics that provide finance business intelligence.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities across financial processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of controls monitoring.
  • Leverage generative AI and intelligent automation tools to streamline data extraction, reconciliation, and anomaly detection within financial data.
  • Support Controllership management in continuous improvement of controls and finance operations through data-driven recommendations.
  • Support and conduct control workshops to identify financial data insights and opportunities for process automation.
  • Integrate and analyze large data sets from multiple sources seamlessly, applying advanced analytics and AI-assisted techniques to surface actionable intelligence.
  • Lead, develop, and conduct continuous monitoring projects using advanced data modeling, automation frameworks, and analysis techniques.
  • Leverage technology effectively, including AI/ML platforms, advanced data analytics techniques, and visualization tools for dashboarding and reporting.
  • Develop and deliver training to Financial Accounting teams on data extraction, analysis techniques, and emerging AI and automation tools.
  • Coordinate with internal functions to ensure financial controls are managed holistically and that automation solutions align with enterprise standards.
  • Develop an expert working knowledge and understanding of the Company and our objectives.
  • Demonstrate a high level of ethics, integrity, and professional judgement in all activities as a representative of Controllership and Advance Auto Parts overall.
  • Execute multiple projects concurrently while delivering accurate and reliable insights.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will not directly oversee staff members.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency with Python, essential SQL skills, and advanced Excel and Power Query skills are required.
  • Proficiency and knowledge in leveraging open-source tools, libraries, and software for data analytics and automation.
  • Proficiency leveraging generative AI solutions, AI-powered coding assistants (e.g., Co-Pilot, Claude), and automation frameworks to accelerate analytics development.
  • Experience leveraging cloud data storage platforms (Snowflake, Databricks) and building automated data pipelines.
  • Ability to leverage business finance systems (Oracle experience preferred) and tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI, etc.) to support data analytics execution and measurement of results.
  • Assimilate and synthesize complex data and information into a decision-making framework.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills including the ability to build relationships and interact effectively across the business.
  • Solid critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to quickly assess business processes, solve complex problems, and work on unstructured assignments.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize assignments, deal with interruptions, and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work both individually and in a team environment.
  • Ability to simply and clearly write and present insights to senior stakeholders.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • 0-5 years relevant Finance, Accounting, or Analytics related experience (public accounting, financial systems, or automation/analytics roles) strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related fields from a four-year college or university required.
  • Experience with data extraction and modeling, business intelligence (BI) tools, and working knowledge of data analytics and AI/ML platforms.
  • Ability to develop visual dashboards and automated reporting using Power BI (DAX proficiency preferred), Tableau, or similar.
  • Experience in consumer or retail industry, preferred.

Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, this will be a hybrid role with partial onsite office expectations in accordance with Company policy.
