What this job involves
As a Data Center Training Manager, you'll manage comprehensive training operations for data center accounts while serving as the primary resource for operating procedures and work instructions. This role oversees the development and delivery of technical training programs, ensures documentation accuracy and version control, and maintains all staff competencies and certifications for safe, efficient operation of mission-critical infrastructure. You'll coordinate with clients and stakeholders to keep procedures current, track compliance, and build technical capabilities across operations teams.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
  • Maintaining and updating operating procedures and work instructions for data center operations, ensuring documentation accuracy, version control, and accessibility while coordinating approvals and signoffs with stakeholders

  • Overseeing training operations including scheduling, resource coordination, and program delivery while managing training calendars, instructor assignments, and facility requirements across data center facilities

  • Designing and delivering hands-on training programs covering power distribution, cooling infrastructure, fire suppression, security systems, and environmental monitoring while engaging vendors for specialized training

  • Implementing mandatory safety training programs including electrical safety, confined space procedures, and emergency response protocols while tracking compliance status and certification renewal schedules

  • Leading training coordinators, technical instructors, and support staff by providing coaching, establishing performance standards, and ensuring consistent, high-quality training delivery

  • Developing competency-based assessments and practical evaluations while maintaining comprehensive training records, certification tracking, and performance documentation for regulatory compliance

  • Collaborating with operations managers, engineering teams, and HR personnel to align training programs with business objectives while tracking procedure compliance and identifying documentation gaps

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Education, or related technical field required

  • 4+ years of experience in technical training, data center operations, or facilities management

  • Proven leadership experience managing training teams and coordinating complex training initiatives

  • Strong presentation and communication abilities to translate technical concepts into effective training materials for diverse audiences

  • Excellent project management and organizational capabilities for managing multiple training programs, tracking compliance requirements, and maintaining detailed documentation

  • Proficiency with training management systems and Microsoft Office applications for program administration and reporting

  • Experience with documentation control, version management, and procedure development processes

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional training certifications (CPTD, ATD) or data center credentials (DCCA, EPI)

  • Solid understanding of data center infrastructure, electrical systems, HVAC technologies, and safety protocols

  • Experience with training program development, adult learning principles, and various instructional methods including classroom, online, and hands-on delivery

  • Familiarity with learning management systems, simulation software, and digital learning platforms

  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and safety qualification standards for data center operations

  • Experience conducting technical assessments to identify skill gaps and develop targeted training interventions

  • Background in stakeholder collaboration and aligning training programs with operational excellence goals
