Job description

Bartenders will maintain a well-groomed, sharp, professional appearance at all times. Shoes must be polished and uniform and apron must be kept clean and pressed for each shift. Members will be addressed by name, when possible. A pleasant, friendly demeanor is imperative at all times.

The bartender is responsible for unlocking and setting up the bar, keeping the bar stocked with all needed supplies, keeping the bar clean, preparing lemonade & iced tea for that station, making sure all products stocked are fresh and in presentable condition, keeping glasses clean and polished, and setting up bar tables with proper settings and lamps, when required.

Bartender is also responsible for properly ringing in authorized employee meals and beverages, checking and stocking wines by the glass, taking customer orders (including takeout phone orders), delivering food and drinks in the bar, making all drink orders for servers (except coffee and hot tea), informing manager of low supplies, and doing any assigned side work - such as cleaning mats and mopping behind the bar on designated days.

In the absence of a hostess, the bartender will assist in seating guests, answering the phone and greeting guests upon arrival and departure. In the absence of a front desk attendant, Bartender will assist with coat room duties. Bartender must help servers monitor the consumption of alcohol by members and guests and inform a manager if a potential problem is suspected.

When closing, the bartender is responsible for restocking all supplies, cleaning thoroughly, placing daily tickets in manila envelope for accounting, locking the bar, returning the keys to the front desk and turning off the dining room lights and all POS units. Before leaving at the end of a shift, the bartender must check out with the manager on duty.
