Job description

Investment Associate

Sycamore Tree Capital Partners, L.P. is a value-oriented, active asset manager focused primarily on alternative credit. The Firm is committed to its core values of excellence, client focus, integrity, humility, trust, and teamwork. Sycamore is seeking an Investment Associate to join the Firm's investment team, specifically within the newly established Credit Secondaries business. The position will be responsible for analyzing, underwriting, investing in, and monitoring credit secondary investments. Your primary activities will include conducting credit diligence on new investment opportunities; engaging with the team to support the entire investment process; and providing portfolio monitoring and ad-hoc research and marketing support. This position is in our New York City office.

Responsibilities

  • Qualitatively and quantitatively evaluate potential transactions including performing portfolio analysis, company research and portfolio cashflows modelling
  • Support and guide the underwriting process and company due diligence, including both primary and secondary research
  • Prepare financial analysis, models, and investment committee memos/presentations
  • Assist in the legal negotiation and closing process for new investments
  • Continuously monitor portfolio investments and assist in quarterly portfolio valuations and regular portfolio reviews
  • Provide support on ad-hoc requests related to client service, fundraising, or marketing as needed
  • Voice your opinions in investment discussions, making your mark in the decision-making process
  • Support the further development of the analysis tools and frameworks as well as technology-enabled work-flows for credit secondaries investing

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree, preferably in finance or accounting
  • Prior financial analysis and valuation modeling experience is required; 1-3 years of relevant experience in direct lending, investment banking, consulting, private credit or private equity
  • Attention to detail and a desire for accuracy
  • Self-motivated and driven; ability to work effectively in a collegial, fast-moving, demanding, and dynamic environment
  • Intellectually curious with a strong desire to learn and grow
  • Creative problem solver
  • Strong intellect with solid quantitative, financial and analytical skills
  • Advanced MS Excel modeling skills (v-lookup, macros, pivot tables) and MS PowerPoint skills
