Salary: Starting at $90,000 per year

This role is fully in office at our San Antonio, TX based headquarters.


Plus One Robotics is a dynamic startup developing cutting-edge robotic solutions for logistics and e-commerce applications. We aim to revolutionize automation with high-performance systems that integrate hardware and software seamlessly.


Role Overview

As a Controls Engineer you will be responsible for the design and development of robotic controls and electronics for our InductOne and related systems. You will also be responsible for programming (PLCs) and configuring controls (drivers, sensors, etc) in order to meet performance and quality requirements. You work with a small team (4-6 people) of talented electrical and mechanical engineers. You will drive technical architecture by collaborating with mechanical and software engineers.


Key Responsibilities:

Technical Execution & Product Development

  • Support the implementation of best practices for electrical/controls change management.
  • Draft industrial electrical schematics and panel layouts under the guidance of more senior engineers/group leader.
  • Select and specify industrial components for electrical design
  • Troubleshoot Program PLCs (or similar) for machine control
  • Assist in the evaluation and implementation of control system machine safety
  • Deliver high-quality hardware releases within scope and timeline.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with software development teams to understand and implement hardware-software interfaces.
  • Provide technical support for requests from operations and field teams.
  • Provide accurate time estimates for assigned individual tasks.
  • Proactively report task status, technical hurdles, and progress to the group lead.


Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical engineering, controls, robotics, automation, or hardware product development.
  • Bachelors in Engineering, Electrical, or a related field.
  • Foundational knowledge of robotic systems and industrial automation.
  • Experience with I/O networks
  • Experience with machine control using PLCs
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks, or similar tools
  • Experience with engineering change management and/or product life cycle management tools.
  • Strong background in software/hardware integration and product development processes.


Work Environment & Travel

  • This position operates in a professional office setting with occasional exposure to robotic systems and moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment and job sites may at times be loud.
  • Up to 20% travel in for the purposes of customer support, first article inspections, site acceptance testing, sales support, conference participation, etc. Although rare, some travel may be last minute.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Full time, 40 hours/week between M-F, 9:00am-6:00pm.


Benefits

Depending on level of experience, this role starts at $90,000 per year and is a bonus eligible position.
