POSITION TITLE: Security Manager


REPORTS TO: Engineering Director


SUPERVISES: Security supervisor/ staff


EXEMPT OR NON-EXEMPT: Exempt


PERCENTAGE OF FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time


PERMANENT/SEASONAL/TEMPORARY: Permanent


LOCATION: On-Site



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:


Controls CMA security through policy, awareness, access, monitoring, compliance, and strategy. Develop and implement security policies, protocols and procedures. Controlling budgets for security operations and monitor expenses. Recruiting, training and supervising security officers and guards. Manages the Security department and implements new procedures and policies to improve and enhance security at Clearwater Marine Aquarium.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Keep fully aware of events and campus wide activities for all properties
  • Implement and review security protocols modifying as needed
  • Create/modify emergency procedures with Director
  • Conduct confidential security evaluations/ investigations as required.
  • Supervise security staff members for optimal performance
  • Develop and coordinate employee shift schedules to cover all three shifts.
  • Use independent judgment and discretion to plan security for special and high-risk events
  • Coordinate security operations or activities with public law enforcement, fire and other agencies.
  • Respond to medical emergencies, bomb threats, fire alarms, or intrusion alarms, following emergency response procedures.
  • Prepare reports and/or make presentations on internal investigations, losses, or violations of regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate rationality and composure in regards to situational issues and working with guest, employees and staff.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Four-year bachelorโ€™s degree in criminal justice preferred
  • Previous law enforcement supervision background a must.
  • A minimum of ten yearsโ€™ working experience as a law enforcement officer or in the criminal justice system
  • Security class D license required
  • Private investigator C license preferred
  • Valid FL driver license
  • Proven track record of oral and written professional communication skills
  • Detail-orientated with an aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, afterhours, and holidays.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lift up to 50lbs to waist level - Frequently.
  • Lift up to 20lbs to shoulders and above head โ€“ Frequently.
  • Walk/stand for long periods of time - Frequently.
  • Maneuver safely on uneven terrain or in tight spaces - Frequently.
  • Safely climb ladders when needed โ€“ Frequently.
  • Squat, bend, kneel, twist and reach - Frequently.
  • Reach above the shoulders - Frequently.
  • Push and pull larger equipment โ€“ Frequently.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions and adapt to changing weather โ€“ Frequently.
  • Work indoors, under cover without air conditioning or heat โ€“ Frequently.
