Our Quad Packing team in Salt Lake City, UT, is seeking a Die Cutter Operator to work on our 8-hour day shift (6 am-2 pm).  This is your opportunity to enhance your skills working with the industry’s most advanced Packaging Equipment.  This role includes travel for initial training in Franklin, WI and Spartanburg, SC.  Employees can be expected to be paid an hourly rate of $22 - $27.50 /hour, based on variations in knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions

The Die Cutter Operator I is responsible for setting up and operating die-cutting machines to efficiently and accurately die-cut blank and/or preprinted stock. This role ensures job order accuracy, proper die setup, material verification, quality control throughout production, and safe operation and maintenance of equipment while meeting efficiency and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities: 

Pre Make-Ready

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized die-cutting machine area.
  • Remove or isolate materials and components from prior jobs.
  • Review job priority and specifications using the computer system and Job Order.
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of dies, materials, and approvals.
  • Prepare dies, plates, stripper, and blanker using hand and small power tools.
  • Confirm material compatibility and readiness for make-ready processes. 

    Make-Ready

  • Set up, operate, and adjust die-cutting equipment according to SOPs and Job Orders.
  • Achieve proper registration, cutting, scoring, stripping, and blanking.
  • Produce and inspect start-up samples to ensure conformance to approved standards.
  • Isolate make-ready materials and obtain required approvals and sign-offs.

Production

  • Operate die-cutting machines to produce required quantities per Job Order.
  • Inspect production output regularly to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Monitor material flow and troubleshoot inconsistencies or machine issues.
  • Separate and identify non-conforming materials and complete required documentation.
  • Repeat setup and production processes for multiple forms or items as required.

Production Completion

  • Clear finished goods, scrap, and materials per SOP.
  • Clean equipment, remove dies, and perform routine maintenance.
  • Record production data and complete daily production documentation.
  • Train and assist other employees as assigned.
  • Cross-train and perform additional duties as directed by management.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of die-cutting experience preferred. 
  • Bobst Expertcut LER or PER die-cutter experience preferred. 
  • Machine repair and maintenance experience preferred. 
  • Leadership experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of die-cutting machines and related hand and power tools. 
  • Ability to read and interpret job specifications and SOPs. 
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. 
  • Computer proficiency. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Effective communication skills in one-on-one and small group settings. 
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality
