Job description

About Owner
Owner is the AI-native system local business owners use to succeed, starting with restaurants.
We're building the system that replaces the many tools owners use to run their business.
It powers everything from the restaurant's website, online ordering, CRM, POS, and more.
Product philosophy
Most small business software makes owners do the work to get what they want: sales growth and profit growth. Owner does the work for them agentically.
Our system drives demand, converts it, and helps operators run their business day to day. As it improves, the business improves with it.
Using Owner should feel like having a team of great operators, engineers, and marketers working for you.
Our vision
We're starting by helping independent restaurants succeed online.
But it's not just restaurants that need our help. Most local businesses are struggling with these same problems. Huge technology corporations are taking their customers, bleeding their profits, and making it hard for them to survive.
Once we nail the solution for restaurants - we'll scale it into every other local business type.
In the future we envision, tens of millions of local business owners will use our technology to succeed in the digital age.

Our traction
Since 2020, we've generated tens of millions in revenue and processed over a billion dollars of online orders. 1 in 5 Americans have used an Owner.com website.
More importantly, we've helped over 20,000 restaurant owners, and saved them nearly $200 million in fees.
Our team
Our team is now in the low hundreds. We've got top talent from the most successful companies in SMB software, including: Shopify, HubSpot, DoorDash, ServiceTitan, Rappi, Faire and Stripe.
We'll be scaling even faster in 2026 to keep pace with our customer growth.
Where we work
Owner is a remote-first, global company headquartered in San Francisco, with a sales hub in Toronto. For a few of our roles we prioritize in-person collaboration at one of our office locations. Most of our teammates are distributed throughout the globe. Please review the role description and discuss with your recruiter for more details on location!
Why we are looking for you
Owner is scaling fast- hardware volume is ramping, Canada is on the horizon, and our financial systems need to be ready for both before either forces our hand. We're currently on QuickBooks Online with no inventory subledger, no ERP roadmap, and manual integrations to Stripe, Bill.com, Ramp, and payroll that consume too much of every close cycle. We're hiring an Accounting Manager to own the financial systems, data flows, and accounting infrastructure we don't have yet- and to build them inside the system, not around it. You'll lead our ERP migration, stand up inventory and COGS accounting, and lay the foundation for multi-entity, multi-currency operations. This is a builder's seat: you'll define the policies, choose the tools, design the integrations, and write the SOPs that the next decade of Owner's accounting runs on.
This is a hybrid role based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The impact you will have
  • Lead Owner's ERP migration off QuickBooks Online to an AI-first platform (e.g., Rillet, Campfire)- own selection, implementation, data migration, and stabilization, including end-to-end design of Stripe Connect, Bill.com, Ramp, payroll, and Salesforce integrations.
  • Stand up inventory and COGS accounting inside the ERP- define FIFO vs. weighted-average policy, capitalization thresholds, and SKU structure; build an inventory subledger with automated tie-outs to warehouse movements; book reserves for returns, warranty, shrink, and obsolescence; deliver COGS reporting by product and channel that ops and finance trust.
  • Build the international accounting foundation- define entity setup requirements (multi-currency, intercompany, COA approach), ensure the ERP supports multi-entity reporting, consolidation, and eliminations, and coordinate with tax, payroll, and compliance providers for Canada launch and beyond.
  • Identify and deploy AI/automation opportunities across reconciliations, close tasks, and reporting- shrink manual work and free the team to focus on judgment, not data entry.

Who you'll work with
  • Thomas Peck (Controller, hiring manager)- your manager and closest partner; you'll co-own the accounting roadmap.
  • Finance, Logistics, Engineering, and Data- partner with engineers on integration design, ops on inventory flow, and FP&A on COGS and channel reporting; the connective tissue between accounting and the rest of the business.
  • External partners- implementation consultants, audit/tax providers, and the ERP vendor's professional services team.

What we're looking for
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including direct ownership or significant contribution to an ERP migration or implementation at a scaling company.
  • Experience with inventory accounting and COGS for a physical-goods business- not just GL ownership at a SaaS company.
  • Demonstrated fluency with accounting systems and integrations: comfortable in the data model, comfortable talking to engineers about APIs, comfortable explaining how a Stripe payout becomes a journal entry.
  • Experience with multi-entity, multi-currency, and intercompany accounting- or a clear path to getting there based on prior work.
  • CPA preferred; mix of public accounting and high-growth in-house experience strongly preferred.
  • A builder's mindset: you've operated without a playbook, defined policy from first principles, and written the SOPs your team runs on.

Pay and benefits
The estimated base salary range for this role is $130,000 - $175,000, plus a generous pre-IPO equity package
Other benefits include comprehensive health coverage, remote-first workplace, unlimited PTO - plus extra fun perks!
