Job description

Tapcart is the leading mobile app platform for the world's fastest-growing Shopify brands. We help marketers and eCommerce teams strengthen their brands and create differentiated customer experiences through a direct mobile channel.
Our platform powers mobile shopping for over 50 million consumers and processes more than $8 billion in revenue annually. Brands like Bรฉis, Grove Collaborative, and Ruggable trust Tapcart to turn mobile traffic into high-retention, high-growth relationships - with mobile apps launched in hours, not months.
THE ROLE
As a Senior Software Engineer on the CMS Team you will create the authoring experience that enables our merchants to manage their account, build and deploy their app, create marketing campaigns, and review their app's business performance across key metrics. This includes a powerful graphical editor (React/Next.js) and CLI tools that enable developers to customize and extend apps from the command line. You'll be building the next generation of app development tools, enabling our merchants to take advantage of advanced AI integration every step of the way from sign-up through app design, launch, optimization, and maintenance over time.
You'll be a true owner, from prototype to production, and work sideโ€‘byโ€‘side with product, design, and solutions engineering, all while staying close to merchants to deliver value early and iterate quickly.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
  • Build an intuitive, dragโ€‘andโ€‘drop editor that visualizes app composition in real time.
  • Integrate AI across our feature set to unlock super-human productivity.
  • Deliver command-line tools for scaffolding, custom code integration, version control support, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Prototype new editor features in weekly sprints, validate with live merchants, iterate, and roll out to thousands of apps.
  • Write and maintain clean, testable code and comprehensive documentation for both the editor and CLI.

WHAT SKILLS YOU'LL NEED
  • 5-7 years of experience in software engineering.
  • 3+ years of fullโ€‘stack development with React + Next.js (TypeScript).
  • Strong understanding of state management (Redux, React Context) and experience with dragโ€‘andโ€‘drop libraries.
  • Familiarity with cloud deployments and hosting.
  • Ability to ship production-ready code in a fastโ€‘paced, crossโ€‘functional environment.

BONUS IF YOU HAVE:
  • Shopify or ecommerce experience, prior work on editor/CMS applications.
  • GraphQL experience.
  • Background in UX, product or design critique.
  • Contributions to openโ€‘source component libraries, command-line tools, or designโ€‘system tooling.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT
  • Autonomy: Small, tightโ€‘knit squad with endโ€‘toโ€‘end ownership.
  • Impact: Shape the developer experience for thousands of merchants worldwide.
  • Innovation: Design and deliver a cutting-edge mobile app development platform driven by both humans and AI.
  • Culture: Collaborative, fastโ€‘moving environment that values competency, creativity, and experimentation.
