About the Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for supporting and coordinating the clinical operations of the School of Nursing with the placement of nursing students for clinical and practicum educational experiences in both the graduate and undergraduate nursing programs. Key responsibilities include clinical placement database administration and management, creation and maintenance of a comprehensive clinical course communications infrastructure, and coordination of preceptor development functions. This position will serve as the main contact within and outside the School for the nursing clinical placement office and will require operation at several different levels in order to establish and maintain smooth program and departmental operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree with experience in healthcare-related field preferred or equivalent education and experience that includes 2-3 years prior administrative experience in nursing education or health care agency.
  • Must demonstrate advanced computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Up to 2 years of experience and exposure to multiple applications including, but not limited to, databases and other computer systems strongly desired.
  • Should possess excellent communications skills, including verbal and written with editing experience.
  • Must demonstrate well-developed skills related to organizing, prioritizing, and delegating as appropriate.
  • Must possess exemplary customer service orientation with both internal and external customers.
  • Due to the varying levels at which this role must operate, self-direction, flexibility, a hands-on approach, and the ability to manage several initiatives and tasks simultaneously are critical for success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
1) Communication and Information-sharing Infrastructure (20%)
Initiate and sustain effective levels of communication with partner organizations, full-time and part-time faculty, students, and other identified stakeholders to facilitate and support the placement process. Participate in information-sharing groups and collaborations including but not limited to monthly Bouve Clinical Coordinator meetings, the Centralized Clinical Placement Program, and the committees as assigned.
2) Coordination of Preceptor and Part-time Faculty Functions (5%)
Assist the Clinical and Faculty Coordinator and other faculty and staff members to develop and implement orientation programs, recognition activities, etc. for part-time faculty and preceptors.
3) Database Administration and Management (15%)
Integrate systems to maintain the clinical placement database and other software programs, including internal databases and web-based programs. Identify areas for process improvement; make recommendations regarding system customization based on changing School needs. Prepare documents and reports as requested.
4) Evaluation Reporting (10%)
Prepare and disseminate all student and preceptor evaluations of clinical sites using clinical placement database); Organize and summarize data in clear reports.
5) General Administrative Support (50%)
Initiate, implement and finalize the clinical placement process. Specific assignments or projects include nursing student (undergraduate and graduate) placement at multiple clinical and practicum sites, coordination of the initiation and renewal of new clinical contracts using the standard NU contracts or contracts provided by the clinical agency, management of clinical contract files. Prepare and disseminate correspondence with clinical agencies and preceptors. Secure and maintain files to document students' clinical clearance and background check information as required. Collaborate with appropriate units on campus to assure compliance with all university policies.
