JOB SUMMARY:

The Relationship Manager role requires strong portfolio management and business development skills and a desire to provide comprehensive banking solutions to commercial real estate investor clients including acquisition, bridge, refinancing and construction lending. This position includes ongoing oversight and risk assessment of credit facilities and requires the ability to dialogue with and provide financial counsel to current and prospective clients regarding complex accounts. The Relationship Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for all relationships and be responsible for making credit recommendations on renewals and new loan originations. The Relationship Manager will work closely with CBC’s draw and disbursement coordinator. Knowledge of commercial real estate, construction lending and underwriting is a must.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Manage existing client loan and deposit relationships including consistent communication with clients, active monitoring and evaluation of credit risk, and preparing thorough written and oral credit presentations and credit recommendations.
  • Expand portfolio of client relationships through business development and marketing efforts.
  • Educate current and potential clients on CBC’s products and services to meet their business needs while communicating to CBC team members about new sales and cross selling opportunities;
  • Prepare written credit presentations defining a borrower’s business background, industry, analysis of their financial information and credit risk;
  • Partner with various verticals within CBC.
  • Manage ongoing credit risk and profitability of the lender’s existing customer loan and deposit portfolio.
  • · Responsible for supervising, planning, directing and coaching direct reports; partnering with Market Leads to accomplish the same
  • Carrying out and attaining the mission and the goals of the business unit managed and enterprise
  • Lead direct reports to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, continuous improvement, and goal accomplishment;
  • Provide oversight and enterprise direction in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures;
  • Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department and enterprise members that allows for discussion over ideas, conflict and expeditious conflict resolution, and the appreciation of diversity as well as cohesiveness, support, and working effectively together to enable direct reports and the department to succeed;
  • Consciously create a workplace culture that is consistent with the overall organization's and that emphasizes the identified mission, vision, guiding principles, and values of the organization;
  • Lead team members using CBC’s performance management and development process that provides an overall context and framework to encourage direct report’s contribution and includes goal setting, feedback, and performance development planning;
  • Maintain transparent communication. Appropriately communicate organization information through department and enterprise meetings, one-on-one meetings, and appropriate email, IM (Instant Messaging), and regular interpersonal communication.
  • Promote and support the Bank in the local community by participating in community activities;
  • Assist and support Bank staff in business activities;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Good written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person and over the phone;
  • Accurate word processing and computer database skills; with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications;
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals and groups at all organization levels; ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Firm understanding of accounting principles, financial statement analysis and banking operations and regulations;
  • Strong analytical ability with active listening skills;
  • Advanced ability to:

  • Explain complex information in a clear and well composed fashion;

Education/Licenses/Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance, or equivalent related experience;
  • Five (5) years of experience in commercial and/or real estate lending; knowledge and/or experience in commercial loans underwriting.
