Job description

Logistics Data & Operations Specialist (MV/LV Transformers & Equipment)

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Logistics Data & Operations Specialist to manage high-volume shipments of medium and low voltage transformers from international origin (Shanghai) through final delivery across North America.

This role reports directly to the Director of Logistics and serves as a key extension of the logistics leadership function. The position combines operational execution with advanced data management, acting as the central point of coordination across ocean freight, containerized shipments, customs, and inland delivery. Preference for fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English is required to support daily coordination with China-based teams, freight forwarders, and cross-functional operational stakeholders, providing value across the broader U.S. operations team.

Core Focus: Data & Visibility Ownership

This role serves as the central control point for all MV/LV transformer shipments, with full ownership of shipment visibility, data accuracy, and tracking integrity.

The position is responsible for maintaining and improving Excel-based tracking systems that provide real-time insight into shipment status, timelines, and risks. This includes validating shipment data, ensuring consistency across all milestones, and delivering clear, actionable reporting to the Director of Logistics.

Success in this role requires proactively identifying delays, gaps, and inconsistencies across both shipment execution and data before they impact delivery timelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work directly with and report to the Director of Logistics, supporting execution, tracking, and operational decision-making
  • Work alongside third-party logistics providers (3PLs), carriers, and freight forwarders to monitor execution, validate timelines, and ensure alignment with delivery schedules
  • Own and maintain master Excel shipment trackers, ensuring high data accuracy and real-time visibility across all shipments
  • Develop and enhance Excel-based tracking systems, dashboards, and reporting tools to support operational decision-making
  • Serve as the central data control point for MV/LV transformer and containerized logistics activity, validating shipment data, milestones, and timelines before internal distribution
  • Manage and track international ocean shipments (FCL/LCL) from origin through final delivery, including vessel schedules and container movement
  • Communicate daily with China-based teams and freight forwarders in Mandarin to drive execution, resolve issues, and align on shipment status
  • Identify, track, and proactively escalate delays, risks, and inconsistencies across both operations and data
  • Ensure all shipment documentation (BOLs, invoices, PODs, etc.) is accurate and aligned with tracking data
Data & Technical Skills (Critical Requirement)
  • Advanced Excel proficiency is mandatory
  • Ability to build and maintain complex tracking spreadsheets across large datasets
  • Experience creating dashboards and automated reporting tools
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy and integrity
  • Ability to identify data gaps, inconsistencies, and process inefficiencies
Qualifications
  • Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English (required)
  • 2–3+ years in logistics experience working with ocean freight and global shipments
  • Familiarity with customs clearance and import documentation
  • Strong analytical mindset and operational awareness
  • Ability to manage high-volume workflows with precision
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
Success Metrics
  • Real-time, accurate shipment tracking with minimal errors
  • Highly reliable and structured data systems used by leadership
  • Proactive identification of risks and delays through data analysis
  • Improved efficiency and automation of tracking/reporting processes
  • Seamless coordination of shipments from origin to delivery

Compensation

Base Salary: $90,000 – $110,000 Performance-based bonus tied to data accuracy, operational efficiency, and delivery success
