Job description

NOTICE OF POSITION OPENING
JOB TITLE: Reefer Tech - Togiak Fisheries
LOCATION: Twin Hills, AK
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Refrigeration Operator is responsible for the upkeep and repair of the facility's ammonia refrigeration systems, including blast cell freezers and flake ice-making capabilities. Reports to Chief Engineer.
This is a seasonal position from May through August. Due to the seasonal nature of our industry, the Refrigeration Engineer works 12+ hours per day, seven days per week, during peak production seasons.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Maintenance and repair of the plant's refrigeration systems. Monitoring freezing cycle.
  • Works with other departments to provide a continuous flow of products through the plant.
  • Ensure all tasks, including all associated paperwork, are completed in compliance with the Plant's safety and food quality program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience with industrial ammonia refrigeration systems is desirable, but willing to train the right person.
  • Ability to work long shifts during peak production.
  • Must be self-motivated and can work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Familiarity with basic electricity and welding is a plus.

Must be able to work long hours in wet and cold conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Pay range: $25.00/Hr. - $35.00/Hr. DOE
Payroll is processed bi-weekly. In Alaska, employees receive overtime pay after eight regular hours a day and after 40 regular hours in a week. NPSI provides transportation from the nearest major airport to the work location and back if you complete the season. Employees live on-site in communal bunkhouses with shared facilities; rooms are assigned based on gender identity, and bed linens are provided. The cookhouse prepares hearty and nutritious meals and snacks. The housekeeping staff cleans and sanitizes restrooms and common areas.
