Job description

Cheese Shop At The Mix in Costa Mesa, CA is looking for cheesemongers to join our team. We are located on 3313 Hyland Ave Unit C. Our ideal candidate has cheese knowledge, but that isn't required for the position.

JOB OVERVIEW

Our cheese department shop is home to the highest quality cheeses specially sourced internationally and locally. A Cheesemonger prepares, packages, receives, and stocks product. A Cheesemonger has passion for cheese and the ability to share that passion with The Cheese Shop customers.

  • Assists guests with cheese selection and shares knowledge of products
  • Prepares sandwiches
  • Weighs, labels and packages products and completes food preparation in a timely manner
  • Stocks counter and display refrigerators neatly and accurately as per the pricing menu, and promptly informs management when food quantities or supplies are low
  • Checks to ensure that all display foods are merchandised attractively and rotated as per quality and First In First Out (FIFO) standards
  • Cleans work station thoroughly
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and implement written and verbal instructions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic knife skills
  • Knowledge of cheese preferred

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Use of scale, packaging supplies, cash register
  • Ability to stand, bend and exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to 4 hours in length
