Job description

Client Overview:
Our client is a leading manufacturing organization specializing in high-quality products for industrial and commercial customers. Their company is committed to operational excellence, continuous improvement, and the delivery of exceptional value to their clients. They are looking to add a Chargeback Analyst to their team. Salary/Hourly Rate:
$60k - $80k Annually (commensurate with experience)
Position Overview:
The Chargeback Analyst is responsible for reviewing, validating, and resolving customer chargebacks and deductions related to pricing, promotions, shipping, and other manufacturing-related activities. This role works closely with Finance, Sales, Customer Service, and Operations to ensure accurate billing, timely dispute resolution, and reduction of preventable chargebacks. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
Responsibilities of the Chargeback Analyst:
  • Review and analyze customer chargebacks, deductions, and disputes for accuracy and validity.
  • Investigate root causes of chargebacks (pricing discrepancies, shortages, returns, freight issues, promotions, etc.).
  • Collaborate with internal departments (Finance, Sales, Customer Service, Operations, Supply Chain) to gather documentation and resolve issues.
  • Prepare and submit responses or disputes to customers within required timelines.
  • Maintain detailed records of all chargeback activities, decisions, and outcomes.
  • Identify trends and recurring issues and recommend and support process improvements to reduce future chargebacks.
  • Reconcile accounts and ensure proper application of credits, debits, and adjustments.
  • Assist with month-end close activities related to deductions and chargebacks.
  • Generate reports and metrics on chargeback volumes, recovery rates, and root causes for management review.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and analysis.
Required Experience/Skills for the Chargeback Analyst:
  • 2+ years of experience in chargeback, deductions, accounts receivable, or related financial analysis role.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or consumer products environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar).
  • Ability to interpret contracts, pricing agreements, and customer terms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact effectively with internal teams and customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Chargeback Analyst:
  • Experience working with major retail, industrial, or distribution customers and their deduction/chargeback portals.
  • Familiarity with EDI transactions and related documentation.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, inventory flows, and logistics.
  • Experience with data visualization or reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Continuous improvement mindset with experience in process mapping or root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
