LIM College - The Business of Fashion & Lifestyle is currently seeking candidates for the position of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (Open Rank), Graduate Department.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Founded in 1939 and located in midtown Manhattan, LIM College is focused on the global business of fashion and lifestyle. Offering master's, bachelor's, and associate degree programs, LIM prepares students for career success via an immersive approach grounded in real-world experience and learning by doing required internships. POSITION PURPOSE:
Full-time faculty members are responsible for teaching, providing service to the college, and scholarship in the field. She/he contributes to the department's curriculum in the areas of graduate studies and assists the Dean in the mentoring of adjunct faculty teaching these courses. Expectations to teach in the graduate program require day and evening hours, and to help lead at least one weekend residency per semester.
SALARY RANGE: $78,000- $103,000/Annually
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
  • Teach a total of 24 credits per academic year (rotating between fall, spring, summer to provide coverage all year)
  • Perform academic advisement for graduate students
  • Help in the recruitment efforts of graduate students
  • Recruit, interview and recommend adjunct professors to the Dean for hire
  • Stay current with innovative teaching methods and industry developments
  • Contribute to the profession through research, consulting, presentations, and/or publications
  • Work closely with students outside of the classroom as a faculty mentor
  • Assist the Dean and other faculty in course and program assessment as well as curriculum development
  • Assist the Dean and other faculty in norming core courses
  • Conduct observations of faculty as assigned by Dean
  • Work closely with other faculty as a mentor and resource
  • Serve on the Faculty Council and standing committees
  • Contribute to college-wide programs such as Open House
  • Actively engage with the field through relevant association memberships
  • Perform other duties as assigned

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:
  • Quality of teaching (Course evaluations) show high scores
  • Annual goals for teaching, service and scholarship are met
  • Good communication and coordination with members of the College community
  • Learning outcomes processes are correct and sustained
  • Reports are completed accurately and on time

REQUIREMENTS: The person selected will have the following qualifications:
Education:
  • Terminal degree (Doctorate, MFA, or JD) preferred. MBA is required (except for those holding an MA/MS/MPS with 10 years of experience at the director/buyer level)

Required Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of fields/functions taught within the FMRM & GFSCM majors.
  • Strong knowledge of omnichannel retail transformation, digital commerce, and technology-enabled merchandising and planning.
  • An openness to AI as a tool and instilling in students ethical methods of applying AI within both schoolwork and industry.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with buying and merchandising or sourcing experience, including P&L responsibility. Managerial level (Non-Accounting) experience with financial statements preferred

Experience Required:
  • Candidates will be evaluated based on their qualifications, experience, and potential contributions to the institution for rank, as may be appropriate. Assistant Professors should have a minimum of 6 years or teaching, while Professors should have a minimum of 12 years of teaching.
  • Curriculum development experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with developing cocurricular events strongly preferred.
  • Experience with course and program level assessment preferred
